Here's two contrasting scenes from Victorian Fourhttps://tapastic.com/series/VICTORIAN4
Chapter 4
Chapter 2
Random ones from Two Faced
Here are some of the ridiculous backgrounds from Radio Silence!
Here are random ones from "Crystal Casualty!"
My backgrounds probably aren't the fanciest but I always try to include some interesting details/quirks that show off the world, even if it's just a dumb sign or two. Anyway, here's a couple of background-heavy pages of Drugs & Wires I'm quite happy with:
Seeing as my comic Glamour is set in a small rural town, most of the scenery is just ominous forests and dreamscapes so far but I do love taking a generally simple bg and using it to really impact the tone of the page. I really need to work on my indoor environments but that's a hurtle I'll deal with when it comes lol
I draw a lot of... rocks... roads... and scrub...
My backgrounds are pretty shit but here is a stick I drew for the occasion.
Here's a background I was pretty happy with from my latest page of Monstrosity!
I've actually grown to looooove drawing backgrounds. Here are some of my favs so far...
Some of my scenery is pretty basic, but they often hold the best background jokes. And then others are usually cram packed with detail and I sometimes think these are the ones I like best.
I dont mind scenery so long as its nature, im really good at greenery, mountains, rocks, oceans sky all that jazz. but as soon as we get into building lord have mercy on my soul. i even learn architecture (until i found out it wanst my thing cough) The last two pages are apart of my comic Starlit, but its not posted since its a holiday special.
indoors / plaza inside a city = x
Opportunities is mostly set in a big fancy hotel but we haven't had a lot of chance to really show it off just yet. There's some more really cool scenery coming. Here's what we've got so far.
This one I'm most pleased with. Even with using a source to trace an outline from for perspective etc, it still took many hours!
From "Out of Time":
Loving this thread! Some really good posts here with a variety of imagery
I was actually inspired to create my current comic, Alternate Character, while I was drawing some video game landscape art. Since I'm imagining an MMORPG for the comic, scenery is a very important part of it. It's the most time-consuming aspect of my comic-making, but I love doing it <3
Oh, the scenery in my comic, Me and My Friend, was my favorite part. Then again, it was all mainly trees, sooo....
From Bad Stew.
Here's a scene I made that takes place in a field of wheat. I'm really happy how it turned out. The comic is King of Israel: https://tapastic.com/series/King-of-Israel
I also posted this in another thread as it is the latest page I have done:
It's a combination of Soviet Modernism and Brutalism. :3c
