no i don't because the reality is that countries and society as a whole dont actually work like that, and if they did, there would never have been social evolution to make society better.
But if you're going to be so picky, just look at US history ffs. We went from brutal slavery to gay rights movements because of things like protesting and complaining (although slavery took a whole war to get rid of, but that war would've never happened if there was no complaint).
I really dont have the energy to argue about this rn any further so dont expect any more responses from me about this
I feel @Cavechan was trying to say that "what suggestions would you like to add then?" Like, people bring up slavery and LGBT+ rights, but you gotta remember -- it wasn't just talk. There were ACTIONS involved. Big or small, there was an action involved to find some type of solution.
And though this really isn't that serious, my point stands -- If you feel something isn't fair, what suggestions or compromises can be added? How would you change the situation to make things better? If all you're doing is offering complaints but not really working to a solution...then what do you expect to get done?
Like, I complain as much as the next person about Webtoons all day, but I'll also throw out what I feel should change in order to benefit other people and myself.
Edit: Guess I gotta get more detailed. Literally has nothing to do with being "happy happy go go". It has to do with whether or not someone is constantly, proactively, offering complaints but have nothing to say when someone asks "ok -- then how would you approach this topic?"
Context is very much important, and since this isn't really a serious type of thing, yes -- I will stand by my stance. If this were as serious as slavery or fighting for human rights, complaining in that context? That's entirely different because something of human value is being infringed on. Here in the forums? This right here where offering a suggestion could improve something or at least get a better compromise? Not so much.
Better example -- artist collaborations. You have the one member who is nonstop offering complaints about what's going wrong, how slow the collab is going. The other members want that imput and ALSO want to see how they'd improve it or what suggestions they'd make -- the member doesn't none of this. They say "Oh, I dunno", but then continue to complain about things not getting done. Clearly, they DO have something to contribute on how to make things better but chose instead to not voice that. So nothing gets done. Same context here.
Trevor's first post was that if society functioned with the idea of "don't participate if your going to complain" then we would still be in the stone age.... And then you somehow misunderstood that as them saying the opposite... and the communication error wasn't being fixed, so I was just trying to clear that up....
That's a problematic approach on two parts though...
Just because an individual doesn't have a solution, it shouldn't invalidate their displeasure or the problem.
Just because an individual suggests a solution, it shouldn't be validated as a more practical approach since all "solutions" are not created equal.
I welcome debate on this but every time I see someone suggest that if an individual isn't "happy happy joy joy" they shouldn't participate ... That doesn't sound like problem solving. It sounds like low grade shaming.
EDIT: Because I guess we're doing this all with edits now...
It seems this has become a debate about what Cavechan (among others) meant versus what they wrote...
Help me out here.. If the intent was malicious or not...where is the basis for saying the above statement was about suggesting solutions? Even if that was a qualifier for voicing an opinion, it isn't stated there.
So you're suggesting that Trevor was sending a sarcastic statement to Cavechan, that I misunderstood ... Then after Trevor read all the other posts about change including the one on change I sent to them...Trevor sent me the same sarcastic message and just updated the timeframe to show they agreed with me.
Is that how you see it?
Nope.
I'm sticking with my opinion that your third post is the only one you wrote clearly and it completely differs from your intent with your first two posts.
My opinions were clearly stated through out the posts. If you agreed with me earlier ... You would of posted earlier. But you didn't ... Your motivations for changing your mind are your own.
well this threads got hot and spice quick. everybody play nice or you have to go in the same closet as my old socks...and nobody wants that!
we all needs to respect each others way. some are less positive than others, while others need to be brought down to reality a little, this way people working and talking together supporting one another makes balance.....* peaceful happy smile*
Now you kids shut it and get off my lawn!
I just personally don’t understand the point of saying “cluttering the front page” I pretty much never use the front page, I stick with the “updates” and “new” tabs because why wouldn’t you? Sure I can see it being a problem for new people but you can just like.... search for topics your into with the search bar. It’s as if like... options exist.
Besides I didn’t see anyone complaining when we “cluttered the front page” with “why do people hate rey” topics
