I myself wouldn't, I would rather be able to get that money out whenever I can, because while some people might be able to easily save up, others can't.
People say "I'd rather get paid later" than "never"
I'd rather know "I am going to get paid" instead of "I may never get paid."
And a better way to phrase it I think would be "I'd rather my money will definitely get to the creators I support at some point" instead of "That money may remain indefinitely out of their hands with no indication they'll ever be able to get it"
If I knew that in a year I would definitely get paid, no problem. If I knew in seven years I'd get paid, that's a long time but hey, I know eventually I'd get paid. Likewise as a supporter, if I were to send money, I'd know it was going to reach the creator. In this case right now it's a matter of "If" and not "when." And personally when it comes to being able to directly support someone with your own money, I don't like that. If money sent takes time, than so be it. As long as I know that money will eventually get to the creator and won't remain indefinitely in limbo, that's more or less fair. All I want to make sure is that money, very specifically direct money used as a support, is going to be used to actually support their favorite creators.
In simple terms, I want to know creators "WILL" get the money not "MAY" get the money, most specifically from readers who do directly support them with money. This is why I think if at all possible, a separation between money earned through advertisement and money earned through direct payment by readers should be different. Set a $25 limit fo the ads and any coins earned through those as. And then have any money earned by readers directly paying be able to to be taken out.
A creator would essentially have two different forms of payment.
1.) Money earned by the Ad Revenue+Coins earned through free advertisement and given a way. Here, you need to reach the $25 limit
2.) Money earned directly by coins that are paid for by users. Here, you can accept this money any time, maybe you'd even wait and try to combine the two.
Of course differentiating "Advertised coins" and "Paid Coins" I'm sure is a lot easier said than done.
But it's like, hey, if you think you'll eventually reach the quota and you're willing to wait for it, go right a head. but for other people who might have 1-2 tips and just happen to have one very nice supporter, I think they'd much rather be able to get whatever they can now instead of trying to wait for something that probably won't happen.
And on top that, people are more aware of the limit that has been placed which as I've pointed out, isn't exactly on the first page for readers.
