I remember doing that thing on Deviantart. It felt very hollow. On all my social media nowadays I prefer honest followers/subscribers. I will always check out the series of my subscribers, but not always subscribe because it isn't always my cup of tea.

I don't sub back, unless I befriend a sub and they ask me to take a look AND I find the comic interesting. I don't even leave a "thank you for the sub" message on their wall, I appreciate the subs ofcourse, but I don't like to get spammed on my wall, so I don't do it on others. I rather make a cool drawing showing my appreciation when I reach a milestone.

Personally I dislike subs out of pity or some sort of obligation /(s)he subbed to me, so I should sub to them/ . In the long run it feels bad, you feel that you have to read that comic that maybe you don't really like, coz you subbed. And that other person may feel exactly the same.

So, you see your numbers ,100 subs, oh man I'm doing good!!!, but only 20 to 30 views in each episode... where are the other guys?, could it be them obligation subs?, hmmm.

We can't lie, peeps love subs, but, nothing beats a sub out of enjoyment, that person found something in your comic that (s)he likes, and wants to keep reading, that's an amazing feeling.

The other kind of subs are like lying, to yourself and the other creators, I subbed but I don't really like it or read it. I have subs but they don't really like it or read me.

Final word, subscribe only if you like a comic, you're doing yourself a favour and also a favour to other creators. Oo.oO

Hehe That's true! But we had a genuine interest in each other's comic.
I don't count it as sub for sub and more like comic network expansion...
And that's a good thing! wink

Seems like everyone is saying the same thing
So I'll say something slightly different

I have more subs, than comments
I kinda wish it was the opposite to be honest

Plus I won't sub stories I don't read
