@dairyfiend Submissions are closed at this point, but I don't think they were looking for stories without artists attached this time around. It seemed like the program was mainly for artists with their own stories or artists interested in adapting novels that had already been selected.

Will the announcement be public? Or will it just be contact between thise who are chosen and tapas?

We are in the process of contacting creators chosen for this round!

As for the public announcement -- we are working on a large announcement both on-site and outside Tapas. I'm not certain what date that will be; of course we want to announce as soon as possible, but this depends on how quickly we can confirm candidates.

When can those of us who submitted who never got a email exhale? Also in my rush to meet the deadline at the time, I sort of overlooked the part about talking about myself and links to my social media, was that part super important?

I also have a question about if we don't get an email, if I were to ask what it is about my comic pitch that wasn't necessarily liked, could I get feedback on it?

@MidZM I am not a staff member, but I would guess that the answer is "no." Mainly because I tried to ask for feedback in the past and didn't get it, and the other reason being that there are simply too many submissions for that to be reasonable. Have pity on the poor staff members, haha. They are probably DROWNING in work right now.

I'd like to ask you what the exact meaning is. If someone not being contacted for now, is he rejected from the submission? Or he just needs to wait a little longer?

@PyroToaster & @KayLynn:
If anyone is not contacted by the end of this week, it's safe to assume they won't be part of the program this time. I don't want to commit absolutely to this though, as there are always exceptions (i.e. if someone drops out, another person may be contacted late, etc.) We also will keep candidates on file who didn't quite make the program but have strengths in other areas (i.e. lineart, coloring, storytelling, etc.) that we may contact in the future for other opportunities.

(Also PyroToaster, art is the most important part of the submission, but giving insight to us about yourself only strengthens it. In the future though, make sure to read everything before submitting something anywhere haha We may not be as "strict" on the requirements, but many other places will reject applications if they aren't filled out correctly  )

@cronasonlyfriend haha thank you for understanding~

@MidZM: cronasonlyfriend is right -- as much as we'd love to give personal feedback to every person to help them improve, that would probably take weeks we don't have. After the incubator is over, however, we may have some general resources available for future entrants about how they can strengthen their submissions, with the help of the first group's testimonials. (That's my wish, anyway.)

Thank you for your patience everyone! I know waiting is the worst, but we want to make sure we do this program and its first group right before we kick off the official announcement.

Still 14 more hours before needing to lose hope, haha! crosses fingers

If it is any consolation, what @gabbyluu said about possibly being chosen late is definitely a possibility! When I got my first job, it was because the applicant slightly above me declined after they were contacted for the position.

I'm curious about the the 'full color' part of the Mobile-Optimization. I'm down with vertical scrolling and 30 or so panels, but what is the significance of being full color? Do you have any data you could share on the difference in readership for full color vs black and white comics?

So at this point we should have been contacted if we were chosen? I only ask because if not ill be using my story I submitted to create a graphic novel instead.

oh but i WILL get into the incubator, even if i have to come back next year! and the next year, and the next year, and the NEXT year, and the next year,

and the next year, and the next year, and the NEXT year

(congrats to the winners though!!!! thats awesome!)

Wow, so you took on 10 creators rather than 5?!

Woah! That's really encouraging.

Plus to see that 300 applied means that there's a lot creators who have faith in Tapas and want to work with the company. Definitely a nice and different viewpoint than the one shared on social media (Twitter) and some forums (CBH) where Tapas was spoken about negatively. Looks like the unhappy few make the most noise and the happy many just quietly do their thing.

@stnmaren That's what I like to hear haha (also the sad cat broke my heart  )

@GoldenPlume We're super excited to start working with them and showing everyone what a huge success the incubator will be

What is CBH..?

...Nevermind, I don't think I wanna know.

But yeah most people who agree with something usually don't make much noise about it. You're more likely to hear from people that disagree.

comic book hour, i follow their twitter, idk if the forum is ugly but their twitter is pretty clean
