I took this idea from a different forum, because it was really cool and I didn't find this on Tapastic, so here goes
I will post a question about your character/s every day. Post a link to your comic, show us a picture of your characters, if you wish, and answer the question (either in a single or in multiple posts, it's up to you). The benefits of this fun exercise are that everyone will learn more about your characters and you will be able to do some good character building, along with getting to know your characters better (they may surprise you!). You don't have to answer all questions, but the more, the better, right?
I will go with two characters from The Green-Eyed Sniper5, Shanti and Sekhmet.
Shanti
Sekhmet
------------------------- Part 1: The Basics -------------------------
1. What is your full name?
Shanti: I am undercover, so I won't reveal it. Shanti is good enough
Sekhmet: Alexandra Sekhmet Hawke
2: When and where were you born?
My comic's world follows the ancient civil Egyptian calendar for days and months only. As for years, they were reset at a certain point (can't talk about it, spoilers). Shanti is slightly older than Sekhmet.
Shanti: 24 Hnsw, 2531 (24 September, 2531) in New Persepolis, aka EastCap, or the Eastern capital of Kemet-Ra
Sekhmet: 7 Tekh, 2535 (7 January, 2535) in Per-Bast, aka NorCap, or the Northern capital of Kemet-Ra
3. Who are/were your parents? Names, occupations, personalities, etc.
Shanti: I need to keep my identity hidden, so I will not give you their names. My dad is an extremely accomplished sniper and taught me how to shoot a rifle. My mom is a great archer.
They are both sweet and kind. My parents love me very much and I love them back. They have always been very supportive and proud of me, but they don't know I am an assassin. I am not sure they would approve or understand, so for the moment I am not sharing this secret with them.
Sekhmet: My parents hate me and I hate them back. I don't really wanna talk about 'em. All I feel like saying is that my father is the one I hate the most. I hope he dies a painful death.
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
Shanti: Yes, I have siblings, but I can't tell you anything about them, because I need secrecy, as you know by now. We all love each other, though.
Sekhmet: Luckily, no. My parents shouldn't have had me to begin with.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
Shanti: I live in the Outerlands with my girlfriend Blitz. The Outerlands are a very wide territory that has been torn by war for several years. I can't reveal the precise spot and I don't feel comfortable describing the people there, but it's a relatively safe area. We have a small hospital there. I also travel often around the world for all sorts of business.
Blitz is a sweet young woman, but very jealous and insecure, too. I love her very much, although I have never felt like telling her about my life as an assassin. She wouldn't understand. I said I love her very much, which is true, but... Our relationship hasn't been going too well, lately.
I see Sekhmet often. She's, hm, rather odd and unpredictable. She doesn't always live in the Outerlands, and I don't really know what else she does when she is away from here. We're very good friends, though. Well. We used to be. Right now... I don't know what's going on anymore. I feel conflicted about our friendship.
Sekhmet: I live by myself and spend my time between the Free World Federation (a political union of several countries) and the Outerlands. That's the entirety of my world: either you live in the Federation or you live in the Outerlands.
The Federation is beautiful, with vast green areas and large cities that were built fully respecting the environment. The Federals are mostly secular and rich, although things are going south: the economy is tanking and people are getting increasingly worried about the future. The rest is spoilers, the author says...
Outlanders are poor and miserable. Most of them spend their days either stealing or waiting to die. Some try to reach the FWF, but they are routinely pushed back or deported. There is nothing good in the Outerlands, only war, hunger, and preachers trying to maintain the status quo. Not to mention a lot of desert and a rather untamable nature. And again, more spoilers, so I'll stop.
I spend quite a bit of time with Shanti and Blitz. They are a couple. Blitz is naive and hates violence. She's nearly obsessed by it, though. It's not that I like violence, but it's part of life, and she just can't accept that. Well, I also think she's very good for Shanti and they make for a great couple, although they seem to be fighting a lot, lately.
And Shanti... She's absolutely gorgeous and I love her. She's a nurseon, which is a special kind of nurse. She's incredibly talented as a sniper (I recently found), and I... my heart stops just thinking about her.
6. What is your occupation?
Shanti: I am a nurseon, or a special kind of nurse trained for extremely dangerous situations, like, well, war. It's something in between a doctor and a nurse, if that helps clarify.
And then there's my other occupation... I'm an assassin, ridding society of criminals who won't ever be prosecuted.
Sekhmet: Oh, that's big time spoilers... I'll try. Technically speaking, I'm an engineer and a researcher. But I am what they call a "protector", which is a fancy word to say I'm a soldier. An officer to be precise. A fucking weapon expert, to be completely honest.
7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
Shanti: Oh, a full ID? OK.
Race: White/Caucasian
Species: AIMS
Height: 6' 1" (about 1.86 m)
Weight: 71 kg (about 157 lb)
Built: Medium to light
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Green
Style of dress: Alternative and casual
Tattoos/Scars/Distinguishing Marks: None
Sekhmet: Well, aren't you curious...
Race: White/Caucasian
Species: AIMS
Height: 6' 5" (about 1.98 m)
Weight: 90 kg (roughly 199 lb)
Built: Muscular
Hair: Dark Red
Eye Color: Dark Blue
Style of dress: Military uniform. When I can... I am a metalhead, so I dress accordingly \m/
Tattoos/Scars/Distinguishing Marks: None
8. To which social class do you belong?
Shanti: Middle class.
Sekhmet: I was born in a middle-class family, but now I am in the military. That is the most prestigious class of the Free World Federation.
9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
Shanti: Nope.
Sekhmet: I have synesthesia (just like the author). Other that that, most people think I am a walking diseases, because of my species. It's all bullshit.
10. Are you right or left-handed?
Shanti: Left-handed.
Sekhmet: I'm ambidextrous.
11. What does your voice sound like?
Shanti: Sweet, but determined. Warm, but never cutesy. Pitch tends to be low to mid.
Sekhmet: Deep, dark and commanding. Sometimes scary. When depression and apathy hit hard, it goes completely emotionless. It softens up a lot when I'm in love.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
Shanti: Many medical terms. I am a nurse, after all. And then, "justice", "travel", "women" and "love". And "sex"!
Sekhmet: Lots of engineering and military words. Lots of "fuck", "what the fuck", "goddamn it", and "women". And "sex".
13. What do you have in your pockets?
Shanti: A paper handkerchief.
Sekhmet: A knife.
Question #14 is about special traits
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
Shanti: I have a very strong sense of justice and can't stand bullies. If I see someone in pain or being hurt, I always help, even if I get myself in trouble.
Sekhmet: The longer I go without sex, the angrier I become.
------------------------- Part 2: Growing Up -------------------------
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Shanti: I was a very happy child. My family loved me very much and I loved them back. I had good friends and grew up in a nice environment.
Sekhmet: A nightmare.
16. What is your earliest memory?
Shanti: Sitting on top of a sewing machine, pretending I was riding a horse!
Sekhmet: Being beaten unconscious.
I will be gone for a few days, so here's a whole bunch of questions for your characters in advance!
17. How much schooling have you had?
Shanti: I have a university degree in Nursing and a Specialization in Nurseonry (I'm a special kind of nurse, I guess I explained that before, right?).
Sekhmet: I have a doctoral degree in Innovative Science and Technology from TINC (Technological Institute of NorCap).
18. Did you enjoy school?
Shanti: Some of it. Nursing school was the best.
Sekhmet: For the most part. In a way, it was my life saver and my curse.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
Shanti: My family taught me a lot about life. University turned me into the best nurse I could ever dream of. And my assassins' organization taught me how to fight and kill stealthily, although I am a natural-born killer.
Sekhmet: I had formal combat training in the armed forces, but I didn't need it, because my species is born to fight. Literally. If anything, I learned how to turn into a ruthless bastard with no feelings. At least, for a while, I guess.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
Shanti: Not really, no.
Sekhmet: No.
21.While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Shanti: I got along with my entire family! As already said, we really loved each other (still do).
Sekhmet: I hate my family. Not going to say anything else about that.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Shanti: Oh, I kept changing my mind on a lot of things, but I knew for sure I would have never wanted to be in the armed forces or anything like it!
Sekhmet: Anything. I just wanted to grow up as fast as I could.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Shanti: I loved rubber band skipping, used to play it a lot!
Sekhmet: Snorkeling.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Shanti: I was a bit shy, but enjoyed having many friends and playing with them as much as I could. I couldn't stand still, always running around, even jumping from one piece of furniture to another in the house! I was sensitive and caring.
Sekhmet: I was lonely. When I was very little, I didn't want to play with anyone. I don't know why, I guess I was content with playing alone. I invented stories and built things. It was nice, felt good. At some point, I became more interested in others, and wanted to play with other kids, but they would barely talk to me. They said they found me scary. So I was left out a lot.
I was also very bored at school. I found everything repetitive and annoying. And cried whenever the class seemed to make progress on some activity, like a math problem, only to find out they were way behind me. It was weird.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
Shanti: Yes, I was quite popular, even if I was also a bit of an outsider. I was fun to be around, or at least that's what most kids thought about me, so I tended to get along pretty much with everyone. Except for the bullies. Those, well, I beat them up as often as I could. I couldn't stand injustice back then, either!
My friends were children from hard-working families. I didn't like rich, spoiled brats.
Sekhmet: I was rather unpopular. Kids thought I was scary or intimidating, probably because I would stare them down if they approached me. But I was just either curious or completely uninterested. I would just... have same stare look in my eyes, I guess. As is "Who are you?" vs "Who the fuck are you? Piss off, you're boring me."
A couple of kids didn't fear me. I think they were AIMS like me, but none of us never found the guts to tell each other about it. They were from families that kept moving around the Federation. I think they were on the run, but I didn't realize it back then. It was hard to see them go. I never had a chance to meet them again. They may be dead, for all I know.
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
Shanti: Summertime. I used to play with a group of girls all kinds of games (soccer, running, whathaveyou). I was 14. One night (it was about 11 o'clock), I quietly slipped through the back door without my parents knowing, met with one of these girls in the backyard, and... we kissed.
Sekhmet: I was at the beach, it was morning time of a very sunny day. I was 13, I think. A group of older kids approached me. One of the girls (she was 20) dared me to kiss her. I thought she was joking and I said I wouldn't. She asked me why. I said she was too skinny for me. It wasn't true, I was quite attracted to her. I was just too embarrassed and unconformable to say otherwise, because of the other kids. Everyone laughed, including her, but then she gave me a strange look. She seemed hurt. Later that day, I waited for her to be alone, told her I didn't mean to say that, and I actually liked her. She pushed me against a wall and kissed me.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
Shanti: (I had to ask Sekhmet about that one. She had to read it in the dictionary. Strange word from a strange old time, if you ask me). I was 18, and I was camping with a group of what I believe you may call "scouts" (ancient as you are). One of the "scout" leaders was really cute, I had a crush on her and that's when we did it. In a tent. She was 25.
Sekhmet: Virginity? That's an ancient word, I had to look it up in the dictionary. You mean the first time I had sex, right? Anyway, I was 17 and in a place I would rather not mention. She was a soldier. I think she was 30.
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
Shanti: I am a proud AIMS, a species I can't really talk about due to spoilers, but I can say that I learned about my abilities (if you want to call them that) immediately, because you just can't hide them. But around the age of 5, my family gently explained to me that I should show them only in private. People can be rather cruel to AIMS.
Sekhmet: Since the day I was born everyone figured out I was an AIMS, because my... abilities, as you put it... were very apparent. When I was 3, I was beat up badly and fainted because I was using them. I wasn't burning the house down or anything like that, mind you. It was nothing dangerous. I was home. It was just me and this asshole on a cold winter day. Asshole had a major overreaction. Still, that's when I realized I should never EVER use them. Public or private, doesn't matter.
------------------------- Part 3: Past Influences -------------------------
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Shanti: The day I found Horizon, my assassins' organization. They bring justice where there is none.
Sekhmet: When I completed the project that turned me into a war criminal. I'd... rather not talk about it.
30. Who has had the most influence on you?
Shanti: Courageous women like my mother.
Sekhmet: I don't know.
31.What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Shanti: Been able to always do what I want to, especially traveling.
Sekhmet: Hmmm... I need to think about that one. I consider most of my life a complete failure, so it's hard for me to answer this question. Maybe... having saved some lives.
32.What is your greatest regret?
Shanti: Not stopping Sekhmet from shooting herself. I know she's
far stronger than me, but... I just wish I could have done something
different.
Sekhmet: I let someone die because I was careless. I was told it wasn't my fault, but I can't forgive myself.
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
Shanti: I lied to Blitz about being an assassin. I couldn't get myself to, but that's no real excuse.
Sekhmet: I am a war criminal! Read my file, I killed thousands of people.
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
Shanti: Nope, but that's because I was never caught killing my targets.
Sekhmet: Genocide. And then some.
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
Shanti: Maybe... When Sekhmet shot herself.
Sekhmet: I can't... won't talk about it.
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
Shanti: Hmmm... I can't really remember.
Sekhmet: Can't think of anything, sorry.
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
Shanti: I would spend a little more time with my family. I started traveling at a rather young age, but I should have spent a bit more time with them. I love my family dearly.
Sekhmet: I should have killed myself at the right time. It would have saved thousands of lives.
38.What is your best memory?
Shanti: When I met Sekhmet's eyes for the first time.
Sekhmet: First time I kissed Shanti.
39.What is your worst memory?
Shanti: When Sekhmet made me shoot her.
Sekhmet: I don't wanna talk about it.
------------------------- Part 4: Beliefs and Opinions -------------------------
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Shanti: Definitely optimistic. I'm an idealist.
Sekhmet: Neither one. I'm a realist.
41.What is your greatest fear?
Shanti: Being captured and tortured during one of my missions.
Sekhmet: Being loved.
42. What are your religious views?
Shanti: I am not religious.
Sekhmet: I am an atheist.
43. What are your political views?
Shanti: I believe in democracy and in separation of temples and countries.
[NOTE: That's like saying "church and state"]
Sekhmet: I am an anarchist. Funny how I ended up in the freaking military, taking orders and all.
44. What are your views on sex?
Shanti: Hmmm, I love it!
Sekhmet: One of the best things in life.
45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
Shanti: Killing is fine when it comes to bastards who rape, torture and kill without facing any punishment. I eliminate this kind of people. I am also in favor of killing in self-defense.
Sekhmet: I am able to kill and I have killed. Some of it was in self-defense and I would do it again. But there are other circumstances under which I disagree with killing. I am against the death penalty, for example.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
Shanti: Torture.
Sekhmet: I think... Abusing children.
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
Shanti: I believe in true love for sure. Not sure about soul mates.
Sekhmet: I don't know.
48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
Shanti: Enjoying it to its fullest with your loved ones.
Sekhmet: Do the opposite of what I did. Find something good to fight for, other than survival.
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
Shanti: I generally don't, although I have to be careful whom I share my secret life with. I probably did a very poor job with Blitz, for sure.
Sekhmet: I've been hiding so much of me for so long, I just don't know who I am anymore. I did so to survive, or so I tell myself, at least.
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
Shanti: Not really.
Sekhmet: Not that I can think of.
