@Melinda I hear you. I just replaced a ten year old Mac - absolutely nothing wrong with it, but it (and my web browsers) wouldn't update anymore, so I had to pay a fortune for a new one.

I wouldn't be surprised if we had to pay subs for oxygen and sunshine one day.
