Hey alright, here are a few images and happenings I've seen on the web that have worried me tremendously recently.

I have a tingling of a feeling that these phenomenon are tangentially connected--or perhaps they're deeply interlinked. Something something, the archetype of the devouring mother.

In the case of the recent obsession with the tall vampire lady--it seems lately that there is a yearning for dominating, devouring mother figures. This isn't even limited to the vampire lady dilemma itself--observe the rapidly growing popularity of vtubers and this reliance on perfect, infallible mother figures/female characters to let one escape into. Or even more alarmingly, the increasing popularity of Onlyfans--there has already been a lot of discourse on the nature of the service monetising the loneliness of men (and perhaps at a lesser degree, women). But in that case, I'm perplexed: why men? Why are men such a large proportion of the demographic? The same can be said for the vtuber craze as well: the majority of these fans are indeed men.

And with the second tweet, the neurotic, desperate nature of this strange male archetype sub-culture (I suspect a desperate misdirected attempt at identifying or constructing roles that one could nest themselves in. However, I believe such an obsession to be tinged with some semblance of resentment towards the real world--I don't know).

I don't know. I'm scared bros. I feel like this is just the tip of some weird psychological iceberg/tree, and I suspect that its roots run all the way down to hell.

I tend to file all of that under emotional immaturity. I think the internet amplifies this to scary proportions, for sure, but most men can shake it off.

That "socio sexual hierarchy" BS really gets on my tits though. I remember the biologist who coined the term "alpha male" writing an article about how the concept had been completely and ridiculously misinterpreted, and people should stop this silliness, cuz it was dumb. He was entirely and spectacularly ignored.

I mean, 100000% of the obsession with big RE woman on MY feed has been thirsty lesbians, so I dunno about that. But although the somewhat unique psychology of the lonely, yet thirsty, straight male is certainly worth thinking and talking about, I don't know if any of this is new.... seems like just different meme/internet culture-coatings as the years go by. Onlyfans may be new, but paying people for their company is most certainly not. I wouldn't panic m8

If anything, this is just the evolution of media geared towards male consumption. Only fans is the new sex, pornhub, etc. (Also what do you have against only fans? People use it for more than sex and even if they didn't who cares?) Men wanting to be dominated is nothing new either, it's just more out in the open these days because people are being as horny on main as possible what with the glorious anonymity social media affords.

As for the alpha beta sigma male thing, books like this have existed forever. How to get a woman when you're x isn't a new genre by any means, and exists on the opposite end as well with how to get a man books.

Basically, nothing's changed. It's just a new skin suit for the same consumable media. Vampire Lady will likely be Pyramid Head thirst trap type character and is that really the worst thing ever to come out of 2021?

Yeah most of the people going wild for vampire lady I've seen were lesbians or bi/pan women. Some of us grown up women who like women are into women who look like actual grown up adult women and not cutesy little barely-legal anime girls. I'm a 36 year old woman and I like female characters who look like they're over 25.
If some young men are struggling to define what masculinity means to them in a modern era where people are questioning whether things formerly taken for granted as "manly virtues" as possibly actually being toxic... well, that's a problem unrelated to some people thinking a hot tall lady whose attractiveness is of a type rarely offered in video games is hot.

There is a rise in representation of larger women in video games though. Megara from Hades and Ellie from The Last of Us II for example. The other interesting part is that a both of these games are super duper queer. And there is an undeniable love for big women in the queer community.

It's nice. I like it.

As for OnlyFans... Porn and 'steamy' pictures has been really popular since we were able to produce it. It got a big boom after the camera was invented and made accessible. It's even more accessible now and OnlyFans often offers a much safer platform for sex workers to make money than other places. The fact that most of the content creators are women uploading nudies of themselves and the biggest consumers are men isn't really... Surprising? I mean, the majority of men are straight. The majority of the content is nude women. To me, it's like questioning why there's so many cheese lovers at the cheese convention.

The beta stuff is some incel shit and to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the "sigma male" was a 4chan hoax. Kind of smells like something they'd do.

I also think it's mostly unrelated, though. To be perfectly honest, I think that's just the stereotypical male's way of trying to understand how a guy who doesn't follow all the 'traditional' masculine rules that they've spent their whole lives trying to emulate can still be popular with women (spoiler: it's probably a combination of natural charisma and * gasp * treating women like human beings).

They make it sound like some big secret, a new 'classification' of guy, but if you have to think about it in that way then you really aren't that kind of guy, so in the end the whole endeavor is kind of pointless. =/

You don't know where to find any 'MILF' obsessors? 'Cause certain sections of YouTube and Twitter are absolutely crawling with them, in my experience. ^^;

Not to be rude, but it sounds like you just now learned about kinky porn. I gotta tell you, dominatrix, BDSM and sex work have kinda been around for a really long time. Even before the internet became a thing. The only reason why you're seeing it more now is because everyone is locked in their homes, and can't be horny anywhere else, also because the internet makes finding your kink more accessible. Furthermore sex workers still need to pay their bills while staying safe, so OnlyFans is a pretty good resource for them, and not all of the people on there cater to men... actually I would say they cater to whoever gives them business.

I can say there is a deeper psychological meaning to kinks, but not really they theory you're presenting. A while back I read a study on how fetishes can develop from childhood trauma, and with that said I can see how some kind of horrible childhood events can turn a grown man into an... alpha and omega kinkster? A sub in a S&M type of relationship? I do think these examples that heavily rely on alpha and omega hierarchies are dumb, but at the end of the day it's just something specifically for people who are into that sort of thing. I don't think people outside of that fetish will even care, let alone try to apply it to themselves.

You're probably just seeing more alpha/omega stuff because it's becoming a popular type of erotica, and also probably because Lindsay Ellis (a mega popular Youtuber) made a couple videos about a fanfic writer in that fetish group a few months ago. So it probably has more of a spotlight right now than others.

Also I'm with pretty much everyone else here, the only people I've seen pining for the lady in the new RE game have been LGBT+ people, mostly cis ladies. There's something striking about a gorgeous, confident and dominating lady older than 30. If I had sexual and romantic attraction I would probably pine for her too.

ANYWAYS, there's no reason to be scared? It's just a fetish, and I doubt it has much, if any relation to the RE lady since alpha/omega is basically wolf porn. Larger media influencers will probably move on once its popularity dies down, then no one outside of that group will hear about alpha and omega ever again.

A lot of people have already covered how the sexy vampire lady meme is just your standard "Men/Women/People are horny" affair in different clothing, so I won't be redundant.

What I would like to elaborate on is how the whole male sexual hierarchy thing stems from a debunked theory on the existence of "Alpha" wolves in the wild (@snowy touched upon this in their comment). L. David Mech, the biologist who coined the whole "Alpha wolf" concept, disavowed the whole theory in 1999 since the initial research was based only on studies on wolves in captivity. Much like humans do in prison, a bunch of wolves who don't know each other will compete for dominance when confined together in a strange new environment. However, in their natural habitat, the social structure of wolf packs is typically more familial-based: a pair of parental wolves overseeing their offspring - also very much like humans. Additionally, with another human society parallel, there are cases of unrelated wolves being adopted into a pack, other relatives being included, and stepparents coming into the picture if a previous parent died.

The problem with this, of course, is you can't sell books or gain YouTube subscribers based on the concept of "wolves just have boring family lives like humans" - so people stick with the outdated theory. Also, I think human history has shown that people love it when you shove Greek words into things, so that's probably helped as well.

Most everyone else already hit the main points (Vampire lady being claimed more by lesbians, Alpha male being an outdated and misinterpreted concept, etc) but I think it's also important to note that we're kind of in the middle of a pandemic and people are repressed.

Personally, I think it's great that people are more openly talking about their tastes and exploring themselves. There's nothing wrong with discovering new tastes, and that kind of exploration can really help to understand not only yourself but those around you.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate this line of thinking. This is exactly what people are talking about with the toxicity of Alpha/Beta male culture and the idea of someone being weak because they're into aggressive women is pretty gross tbh.

If its that important to be manly if you're a man and feminine if you're a girl, then show me the rulebook on gender, I'll eat it.

I have never heard of this Vampire lady thing going on in the media but I do come by these men calling themselves "Alpha Male" its like what? are you kidding me not only it is cringe at its finest but also just creepy as well
I guess my question is how are these people able to do this let alone present your self on the internet like that or come up the idea of "Alpha/beta Male thing."
Is it to show you are superior than females or just in general?
Or a roleplay of such?
