I agree about better visibility. The novel section is dominated by just premium stories, so new stories barely get any attention. Not only that, these writers are bringing their readers from other websites, and I doubt those readers are looking for new stories on Tapas to read.

1) A greater range of genres. This can help people find a specific kind of comic they're looking for. It can also be quite hard for creators to pick a genre from the list but the comic doesn't quite fit any of them so they pick the closest. Particular genres I'd like to see are psychological, supernatural, adventure, gag a day, thriller, and there's probably more.

2) Chapter/episode folders. Especially on desktop, the scrollbar gets really small and get really hard to use after 80 episodes and scrolling becomes too much. When you're not logged in, it's quite difficult to get back to where you left off.

3) Better tag system. I was hoping that the tag system would work like tumblr or twitter.

I agree. I never read anything on desktop anymore because the lag is too bad after a while

1) Tips for everyone! (Like the points in DA lol. I have some and I don't know what to do with them).
2) Be able to put pictures in novels (Some people just like to give extra info).
3) A better search system. By genre (more genres), by author, by name, by rating, by age, by type (fanfiction or original).
That's it!

oooh, I have opinions on this!

  1. Something that really bothers me lately is how much Tapas is trying to be like Line Webtoons... !!!! Tapas is really featuring the comics that they monetize/force you to download the Tapas app, so it's kind of overshadowing the smaller comics that don't have a deal with Tapas.

  2. Desktop tipping! Personally, I don't use the Tapas app, and I'm sure so many other people prefer their computers as well. I heard it's coming soon, but... how soon?

  3. I think there should be a better way to find comics. Right now, we can only find things through searching by name / genre / trending / fresh, etc.

Basically, support creators, especially ones of smaller comics, more!!

I would have to disagree with the preference on desktop vs mobile, because the way the future is going is not going back toward desktop but forward onto mobile. The vast numbers of creators here on the forum are using desktop because they need the desktop computer to create, and this forum isnt accessible from the app, so this forum does not represent the real numbers of tapas mobile users.
It's easier for readers to access content from mobile app than being constrained to laptop/desktop computers.

Anyhoo, I agree with alot of other opinions here.
1. More discoverability for smaller series.
Maybe some kind of curated contents?
2. Simple social functions within the app, as others mentioned.
Maybe forums access from app so the forum isn't too one sided heavy on creators/desktop users. I'd like to hear app users chime in on the forum as well, although I feel like that might change the nice environment that tapas has, as more people flood the forum :disappointed:
3. Multi genre. Up to 3.

The majority of Tapas readers are mobile.

Mobile is the future of the internet.

About #3, with the reordering of episodes: As far as I know you can work around it with changing the release dates, even after they already got published.

Hire a PR/ community bridge person. Not for lip service, but to bridge the very real gap between the staff and the webcomic creator culture.

Every time an issue blows up around Tapas, misunderstandings are a key factor. It takes days of painful communication before BASIC understanding is reached. Things that creators assume to be understood (because to them, it couldn't be any more obvious) are new or even bizarre to the staff. This doesn't just confuse people; it's very upsetting for people on all sides. Without a competent, well versed bridge person, by the time basic understanding is finally reached, the damage has already been done for far too many people. We need someone to fill this role.

Just seconding (or twenty-ing, or whatever) others' stuff here, but:

1) Edit the order of episodes. This is already given me trouble.

2) Desktop tipping. I want to be able to throw money at people all the time, and sometimes I have my computer but not my phone.

3) More than one genre for a comic, especially since the tags don't seem to help much.

Funnily enough... some of the things being requested here are things Tapastic used to do but no longer do...

Anyway, aside from things that have already been brought up.

1) A better rating system would be nice (not sure if this was requested, I read really fast through so may have missed some stuff thinking it's a re-peat since there's a lot of things being repeated), mostly so I know if the NSFW is for violence, nudity or sexual content. Right now I pretty much always assume it's porn since that's the most common thing to be behind those walls.

2) A way to post extra content WITHOUT IT BEING ANOTHER NOT-COMIC SERIES. Or even a way to label it as NOT a comic. (Those gallery or 'extras' comics is what I'm talking about)

3) The ability to add translations WITHOUT making it into another comic. I know this is another feature we used to have (though it was limited to only 1 additional language) that was removed, but the cluttering up of multiple versions of the same comic just doesn't look nice.

A big thing would be able to upload episodes from android/apple app and better forum implementation from the app too.

Three suggestions? Okay, here I go:

1- Add more genres! (Crime and thriller are a must for some adult content).

2- No mature content hiding. (Just give a warning in a mature content before reading, like SmackJeeves or Comic Fury, not hiding the mature content, forcing people to create an account here. Not every reader wants to sign in).

3-Multiple genre choice. (Some creators, include me, have subgenres as conspiracy thriller or crime drama).

1 More filtered features. ( a lot of Taps popular comics are on the new premium as well. lot of the spot lighted comics are also on mutable genres while most of us are limited to one. I did see a few front page features again like Cheshire Crossing... I could be wrong but I could have sworn I saw that comic got on the front page twice. Tap needs to be more careful If a lot of attention is being too focused toward the already popular series it makes the smaller series feel they don't have a chance.) Inkblazers ran into the same problem.

2 Focus too much on bring other already established comic artist in than cultivating your "loyal" massive, talented content creators here. It wasn't like this a year ago when I first joined.

3 Equalise platform: both phone and desktop should have the same features tapastic offers
( ex:wall post notifications/tipping options ) as a creator I make comics on my laptop. I recently found out that the phone readers won't see what I post on the tapas wall.

Not in any specific order:

  • Tipping for smaller comics/novels (I find 250 to be quite a large number)
  • Allowing more then one creator on a comic (for collaborations)
  • Making it easier for unknown comics to become known

hmmmm....

  • i liked when, at the "Comics feed" it showed the number of likes that people had given. It looks that that number made people feel more like liking it too. Not just for the fact that is cool and nice to know that people enjoys what you are doing ()specially when you manage a small webcomic), but because it also implies that more people used to subscribe.

-The front page is too plain. It doesn't invite you to scroll down. Maybe a few soft colors separating sections in a visual way will help to show that there's more, like "steps". kind of:

-It was also nice when the "translate" button was available
