Somehow I get the vibe this was one of those "Webtoon made an advertisement without the author's approval" situations again lol

(Shoutout to the one where they made an ad that bashed on someone else's comic for no reason, bringing a bunch of haters to the poor author's webtoon, all without the author being aware of it)

I've never tried posting on Webtoons as a creator, but I quickly lost interest in using it as a reader. Not a fan of the site or how it works at all.

Most definitely NOT user friendly, because when I tried to publish my comic, I immediately got reported and they took it down without even telling me why and, I didn't even know why it got reported, and I tried fixing my comic but it just kept on getting reported until I gave up all together and swore to never publish there ever again, (still wondering who kept on flagging me lol).

So definitely is not really a good space for artists.

Ok...now I'm really wondering what the hell was going on with the flagging, because I followed all their rules...
°.°

The only reason I still have it is because there are actually good artists that I follow on there.

My webtoon went from a 10 star rating to a 5.50 rating because I had the same name as another webtoon. I didn't know and there was a whole drama about it. I.e: messaging me, posting on their story. I was so frustrated but we were able to have a civil conversation but it was all over a title...

tbh that's pretty dumb, on the other person's part, because it's just a title, I have a title in German but when I look up my title I see other people with similar ones, but I don't get pissy about it.

But glad you both were able to handle that in a civil manner.
(Even if it was over a title)

it was a strange interaction. I woke up to the message and was like

I'm glad it isn't just me with these problems on webtoon. I'm kinda only still uploading on there for the three people that are reading my comic. It's not very good for creators. I hate that I can't get any notifications when someone interacts with my comic and the censorship is a little annoying for me because of how strict it seems. Webtoon had a problem with a character design of mine so I had to go back to every future panel that character was in and cover them up when it was just fine on tapas. So you're probably not missing much. It just seems to be more headaches lol

People downrating you for extremely petty reasons is yet another reason why I don't like Webtoon. :stuck_out_tongue:

And yeah I'd heard the ad thing somewhere, can't remember which comic it was.

I was running my webcomic there(it's still up) because I thought I could get better numbers than here at Tapas...but ended up becoming injured, burned out, and so I went on hiatus

It seem like that might've been a good thing in hindsight coz everything at Webtoon has gone to hell after I took my break; no more ad revenue...no more revenue for all comics, and now all this other mess- all the meanwhile, sending me emails talkin about "we miss you"

They want me to come back? Bring back revenue programs so that ALL creators can make money...stop unnecessarily censoring creators works- and stop fucking with AI; I REFUSE to post my comic there, leery of how the AI applications could possibly be scraping/swiping creators comics.
