So I started a small comic and this is the cover I came up with after days of stewing and troubleshooting. What genre and other general vibes do you get from it at this stage?

I'm getting horror and thriller vibes... its very cool! is that what you were going for?

Yes and no so I'm pleased personally  It's actually a romance, but I personally think romance and thrillers share the same cover nuances with colors being the only thing that separates them. So, I'm counting your thoughts as a win!

This is a really effective cover design. It's sexy, sort of scary and intriguing all at the same time and fills the space without feeling busy. I dig it!

Thank you so much! :smile:I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out a cover. I was going to go with a forest shot but it felt so cliche romance every time  People who can pull forest covers off are gods

so is it like a bush the hands are pulling her into? Also, whats the plot of the story, because based of off the cover it looks really interesting..

This is the blurb I wrote for it

An adult adventure fantasy about an artist who finds a journal that writes back.

Kirill is uninspired, and his stiff sketches so as much. Stuck in a mundane loop,
Kirill tries to find new things to get excited about, but a hunting village isn't
the easiest place to find inspiration.

One night after work, Kirill finds a journal filled with drawings of places he
could only dream of visiting. Inspired, he draws on the lavishly crafted pages
only to see a note scrawled underneath his work.

Who has this journal now?

The person on the other side wants him to return the journal to its owner,
someone a day’s ride away. The problem is Kirill's deathly afraid of horses.
Still, there's something that draws him to what could happen, to what he
might see...

As for the hands, they're the hands of the people he sleeps with along the way

Oooooh, okay, I thought it was a girl because the hair looked long to me for some reason.... :joy:
that seems very interesting!!

No that's fine! I was looking at him one day and thought he looked like a girl who got their hands on some scissors :joy:

Yeah those hands belong to the love interest! I'm so hype for this indulgent comic

I like the overall idea and regarding the premise I 'd sggjest you emphasise the journal - it's almost entirely covered by hands - may be make it bigger a bit and push away 2 hands on their right shoulder so that they don't drag attention from the journal in the center. and this particular head angle I find most hard for me to draw because of that wierd looking chin - may be try turning it to the side ?

I'm getting tragedy and drama vibes from this one! It definitely doesn't look like everything might end well omg. XD

I think this cover could go two ways depending on how you color it.

If you use dark colors and a lot of contrast, it would look like a horror.

If you use earth tones and softer shading, it would look like a YA fantasy.

The large gap between "Meet" and "Me" is a bit unsettling for my OCD.

Noted! The journal itself is pretty garishly dyed so I'm not to worried about losing it in the final coloring. I'll be sure to look out for it and potentially resize it and consider hand orientation as I go though. Hopefully I won't have to do too much cause this took forever to come up with

I looked and just noticed it too! I had an extra space in between the words, thanks for pointing it out I so would've never caught that :cold_sweat:
