Totally new to comic making, feedback appreciated

So I’ve been lurking on Tapas for a long time now, and I’ve decided to give a serious attempt at making my own comic. Problem is, I’m completely at a loss as to what to do.

Light’s Harvest | Tapas

is my comic so far, currently 3 pages long. Am I doing something wrong, or is it alright? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Also hope I can make some friends, since I never interacted with the community here

This is actually incredibly solid and I'm genuinely surprised this is your first time making a comic. The visual storytelling seems clear, the use of angles and shot distance is done well and the drawings are easy to read with an appealing style while keeping to a detail level that's viable for regular updates. Consider me subbed.

So the art is lively and well made so I've no advice on that front.

I'm going to talk about stuff that works specifically for Tapas and Online comics and General storytelling advice because you've only just started:

• 1/ know the entire story you're going to tell, this will help the narrative from stagnating or wandering while you tell it.

• 2/ The first 1 to 3 episodes are vital. It's best to tell a nice segment of the story to hook people to the premise if nothing else.

• 3/ This moves me to more Online comic advice: Print pages are great, I'm making print pages too--but I'm not publishing them as such on Tapas. Because that's not the optimal mode of online reading, especially for mobile users.

  Look into scrolling format of comics you like and slightly larger text font so it's easier to read.
  .
  This ain't to say Print won't work, only that scrolling works better online. And there is a way to make scroll appeal on large to smaller screens.
  .
  The field and technology has changed and artists need to adapt. I think one loses nothing learning the skills to do both.

• 4/ also you've only just started. Don't underestimate the power of consistent updates. The momentum will not only help on your side to have a solid process of production but give the readers a subconscious trust that the comic will keep going.

• 5/ Comics are a long game but... In the end, just tell the story you want to tell.

  Make sure something significant (even if it's small) happens in every update moving forward so the story keeps going.

  People mostly read update to update so it's important to make sure the story keeps moving every time you give them a page.

You're doing alright. Just keep going. Tell the story, finish the story.

So far it's pretty good! It's a little early to judge story, interactions, etc, but your first 3 pages are very strong and very nice looking already. I'd say just keep going, just making sure to post a bit more spaced out or multiple pages in the same episode to keep showing up in Fresh, where you might get a lot of new subscribers from.

Maybe you can figure out how to put a button on top and bottom of the pages to turn to the next page.
As it is, now, I had to browse back to the main list and pick the next "chapter".
Maybe more experienced heads can chime in on what to do about that.

I really can't think on any useful advice right now, you pretty much got this (and I'm pretty newbie myself so shfkkg). It was a great and strong introduction with very very cool and clear angles, best of lucks I'm interested to see how the story goes on

And also, @AVXP , I can't take a screenshot atm because I'm on mobile, but you can make the next and prev buttons appear at the bottom of the page if you just click pretty much anywhere :3c a menu should pop up. Hope I explained it clear enough (and that it was what you were looking for lmao)

Eey congrats 🥳 so far so good my man. I can appreciate the size of your panels and text, nice and clear and easy to read on a mobile format. I really like the later panel looking down at the water (I suck at describing, hope you understand which one I'm referencing)

I think as long as you stay ontop of the story and know where you're headed, you're off to a very solid start.

You do a great job with action and opening the comic.
The dialogue is natural, funny, and you got a grin from me in a few panels.
The pacing is perfect for the scene and the paneling carries the readers through.
