70s music hits different. not the stuff you hear on the radio on a classic rock channel, but the artsier stuff, the stuff that you find when you push away all the top 40 hits. progressive rock was king and i don't think you'll ever have such genuine interest in music for the sake of artistry again.
also prog rock isnt pretentious, but the fans DEFINITELY are. sheesh, the amount of people who act like yes and genesis going pop was tantamount to betrayal...

Came here to defend Nickelback but that good work's already been done, so I'll say this instead: Justin Bieber's actually a pretty good singer. (say what you will about the person, but his songs are nice and pleasant to listen to)

Here's mine: Yes, k-pop fans can be creepy but not all of us are like that and obsessively hating on k-pop is just as cringe. It's fine not to like cutesy vocals/tunes but calm tf down. (If anything, we should all be focusing more on how uh... I don't know, corrupt the k-pop industry is?)

I like to buy best of albums for older artists and if I really like a certain song I will buy the album that it's on, but if I don't I wont buy it at all.

I agree. K-pop isn't my cup of tea, but I like a lot of things that are popular amongst fans, if that makes sense. Basically, I know/am friends with a heck of a lot of K-pop fans, and if you bash my friends I will be sad.

I live in the Northwest, but don't see the appeal of Nirvana or the Flaming Lips. They look and sing like snakes.

Coldplay is not boring.

Paul has good vocals but bad lyrics. John has a weak voice but good lyrics. Nobody beats George. Ringo is underrated.

I seem to be part of a dying breed of folks who still find value in CDs. Granted my regular listening has leaned more and more towards Spotify in recent years (as well as the radio, which I've always been a fan of having on most of the time) but I still like to buy CDs from time to time to listen to in the car, especially on long car trips. If I want to support a band after a concert I'll often buy their CD from the merch booth. I'm also a sucker for novelty sets such as video game OSTs and the like. Special/Collector editions that contain full OSTs are a sizable selling point for me (although if it's just a 10-track sampling or whatever, meh).

Bruh! I love CDs too! I have about 60-70 of them and have this ritual where I put several papers in a box with artists written on them, and pull one out so I listen to a new one every time. I love to listen to a full album while I work.

Oh, here's one:
Modern Country is trash. There hasn't been a good country song written after 2008. All of'em these days are either about sex, parties, or superficial 'country' traits like tractors, farms, or small towns. None of these have the heart and soul, and most importantly stories of classic country. Songs like Fancy and Rose in Paradise were actual stories with characters that made you feel and care, not just these glorified pop songs that rock the radios today.
Course, that's just my opinion.

Mine is that Taylor Swift songs sound better performed by other artists. I've heard killer rock covers of her stuff and even some classical covers that are 10x better than the original.

I know many people instinctually turn on music while they're doing another activity (driving, drawing, etc.), but I find that to be really distracting. Music only hinders my ability to concentrate on anything. I like music, but the radio in my car stays off while I'm driving! Off I say!

Most people give me weird looks when I talk about this, so it's probably an unpopular opinion about listening to music.

1. Recent times collabs are trash. Are you telling me that you needed 4 famous singers to compose that absolute sh*t? Sorry but you wasted everyone's time.

2. All pop singers from 2000 to 2021 can disappear from the industry and I won't miss anyone. I perhaps would not even notice at all.

3. The type of music you listen doesn't make you smarter or dumber.

Hahaha xD I really don't like the Beatles. In my mind Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple were far more influential than the Beatles.

(Though I think Led Zeppelin is way overrated. Way.)

i go one step further: i collect vinyl! i find it easier to find lesser known stuff on vinyl than on CD. I mostly find greatest hits on CD, or live albums. On vinyl, I've found even some artist's more obscure works there. It's so much fun to look through...

I wish I could start collecting vinyl, but I'm really cheap so...yeah. But I've found some really rare CD's in my bargain bin hunting, including signed ones and ones that can't be found on digital.
