Um, you do know Bernie is a feminist. He stated so several times and is probebly more feminist than Clinton.

I think the reason he didn't get chosen was he came off as a little extreme to some people.

No. The real reason had nothing to do with that and everything to do with the DNC rigging the primaries so that their queen could win despite being incredibly unqualified for the job.

As for the feminism remark, I think its safe to say most people particularly women only voted for Clinton because she's a woman the same way lots of people including black people only voted for Obama back in 2008 because of his ethnicity. I know my own mother has made it clear she only likes Hillary because she hates the old white "privileged men" on the Republican side that much more. (Not that white supremacy is a good thing mind you. Look at Hitler)

I'm pretty sure most people voted for Clinton because they hated Trump. While there are people who picked her because she is female, I think the majority of people picked her because she had experience in politics. She represented the "typical politician" which was something that was also used against, hence the whole "part of the establishment".

I know you may hate me, but I thought Obama was a good president, that is why I voted for him for his second term.

As for the "rigging", I know there is some bias in the DNC however I won't be surprise the the internet hypes these types of issue. There were plenty of people who simply said that Bernie could not win, especially with "socialist" used as an attack word by the right against liberal policies.

Rest assured Nick. I still like you as a person. I'm just stating my own political beliefs now that the moment is opportune in wake of what happened last night. One thing we can both agree on however is this. Obama never shot his mouth off everyday, then "apologize" the next day only to say something even dumber/worse the following week in a weird illogical inverse of the "boy who cried wolf" story.

Plus, he isn't as bad as people say, the media did skew a lot of what he said. I'm not saying he is a saint or even a good man... But in all honesty if Hillary won it'd show the corruptness of the whole system... I mean, she was a liar, she didn't do much when she was in office. She took credit for bills she had nothing to do with. She was using illegal money, from donors who had special interests. Plus the whole Putin thing... Over all, it will just be interesting. But it's only 4 years.

I think besides trump being unlikeable as a person, people in general are more preoccupied with worry about what his supporters will do. He built parts of his platform on racism and crap like that by playing towards xenophobic worries, so a majority of his supporters are people who think illegal immigrants are the cause of all of america's problems (''taking all our jobs'', etc.), so it seems like these people will find justification in their hatred towards minority groups because trump got elected. I acknowledge the way THAT'S worded seems like one hell of a reach, but that's how I've been interpreting peoples worry over his presidency.

I am very worried about my family members who are black and latino.

There are some Trump supporters who voted for him because they are fed up with the system and they want justice. They don't just want an outsider, they also want everyone who "did them wrong" to be punished and rot in jail. But the thing is, I doubt Trump is actually going to go out of his way to actually get "justice" or help the middle class Americans who support him. So what is going to happen when these people with built up anger for the system don't get what they want?

I'm both shocked and not shocked this happened. Not enough people liked Hillary because of the email scandal and DNC stuff, so there was a lot more third party votes and people not voting. Even I didn't really like her all that much, but I voted for her anyway because I think Trump is far worse and liked the idea of Bernie Sanders being budget chairman. Nonetheless, those lost votes were important, as the results prove.
(By the way, I'm not pushing blame on anyone here, if anything, I think they should've picked Bernie Sanders as the democratic candidate with his more progressive ideas and cleaner record. XP They kind of shot themselves in the foot by sticking with Hillary.)
I don't know what this is going to bring, but I don't think it'll be as easy for Trump to be an outright dictator as many people seem to think. Half of the country is highly aware how wrong this is and can stand up and make things difficult for him, when necessary. However, I understand why people are scared, too, considering some of his ideas and fear of them going through, and how a chunk of his supporters are, but we have to just move on now. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

I notice that there are no riots and demonstrations when a Democrat is elected. Who are the demonstrators? They couldn't be Republicans demonstrating and rioting in some cases because they won.
Wake up and relax. The Trump supporters are not going to be violent. Never have been and don't expect to start.
Trump is a businessman. Are you afraid that he will lower your taxes and let you keep more of your money or are you afraid he will make you go back to work?

Lol I think you've selectively ignored what people are afraid of. Donald is openly racist and sexist, while he claims to protect the lgbt+ community, Mike Pence (his VP) is heavily anti-lgbt+ rights which is worrying. There have also been cases where Donald supporters have gone after people, but Hillary supporters have also been violent. Just because you don't see it, or choose not to see it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

When it comes to fear, I can understand, even my Hispanic Donald supporting coworkers acknowledge that they support a man who doesn't like their race. It's not so much everyone fearing the new Pres himself, but the anti-lgbt+, anti-poc, anti-women pedestal he built himself on... if that makes sense. Lgbt+ people are particularly scared of losing the rights (marriage, no discrimination in the work place, adoption, etc) they've finally gotten in recent years.

You can support who you want, but it's a little shitty to belittle other people's feeling on the subject just because you can't understand them.

Trump is not involved with the KKK, a one-sided endorsement means nothing. My main point is that most of what people say about Trump is exaggerated and Hillary has said, and done, much worse things on nearly all counts. I am not attempting to belittle anyone, rather just point out how many misconceptions and misinformation that is being spread around as fact.

You sure? Do you guys hang out on a daily basis? When it comes to what people do, you can never truly know unless you're intimately involved in their lives. Regardless of Donald's stance, it is telling that the KKK support what he is doing, maybe that should be something to think about. Same thing with Hillary. yeah she did horrible things on a governmental level, but before presidency, Donald had yet to be put into that position. We can't fairly compare him to Hillary because they don't share the same experiences. He has supposedly raped a child, state in one of his speeches that he planned to ban Muslims from being in the country, at the beginning of his campaign Donald was against lgbt+ rights until he flip-flopped later on, he called Mexicans rapists and drug dealers, he is also the bankruptcy queen. Re-emphasizing supposedly to help you feel better, but he is capable of doing bad things just like everyone else. Also his horrible use of words unintentionally lead people to harass voters on election day. but Hillary people did the same thing so whatever.

What I mean to say is, everyone has a right to go with whatever side they want. Technically one isn't any less educated than the other despite most people's feelings, including your own. If you want to "educate" people on your opinion, you will be more effective if you do it respectfully, rather than degrading into a childish state and being unnecessarily bitter. Also, seriously, remember that not everyone has to believe in the same things you do. The great thing about human beings in that they aren't all built the same, the world would be really boring if we were. We would basically be North Korea.

A big issue is that a lot of hateful people have been emboldened by Trump's win and there have already been an increase in people's personal accounts of public verbal abuse.

This anonymous tumblr message, while could possibly be just a troll does reflect a real sentiment that many people share.

Hello everyone.

We have multiple political threads going on at the same time, with all of them having pretty much the same content. The discussions are heated and at times not really appropriate. I thank those who try to keep it civil, I know it is a hard thing to do when it comes to politics. I am glad we got to hear what both sides have to say.

This thread's title is so incredibly biased, that a calm discussion was pretty much impossible from the get go. This is why I am closing this topic. I remind you again that this is a comic forum, not a political one.
