Far be it for me to get political but with the ill-conceived and mostly xenophobic success of BREXIT and now the election of DONALD TRUMP as president of the most powerful democratic republic in the world we have now truly entered the darkest timeline.

Fans of Community will get the reference.

Batten down the hatches. For anyone who relied on Obama's health care reforms my heart goes out to you and any other rational Americans who now have to deal with Trump as your new president, not that Hillary would have been much better.

Four years, people. Four years.

Tell me about it. I've never felt this bad following an election -- even when George W. Bush won re-election.

Dan

This is the worst possible outcome...I'm still waiting for someone to wake me up from this nightmare -___-

Clicked the title solely for the Community reference. I am pleased.

Anyway, certainly not pleased with the result but honestly not surprised. As a European from an economically strong country, I admittedly have nowhere near as many reasons to be concerned as I'm sure many Americans do, but I do hope that people will manage to calm down. Trump knew how to appeal to a large group of people and use their frustration and anger as well as attention from the media to draw in votes, that doesn't mean he's gonna rewrite all laws in 3 days with no one stopping him. Luckily, politics are more complicated than that.

we also now have a vice president that sent a woman to prison for 30 years because she had a miscarriage, who vehemently supports conversion therapy to the point of trying to put all the money that goes to funding aids research into that instead, and is trying to make it so that lgbt couples trying for a marriage get sent to prison. god im so scared.

cheers .but trump talks a lot of smack hillary wanted to actually go to war with russia .as someone from europe im actually gratefull to america that they voted for trump.
1 reason only..Putin likes Trump so ww3 is not going to happen in the next 4 years smiley WHOHOO xd

I guess nobody knows what will happen in the next 4 years. I'm not fond of Trump but wasn't fan of Clinton either, but if I had to choose I wouldn't want a racist woman hater ruling my country. I'm glad I don't live there now.

I worried about myself, my family, and the people who live in my area. My area voted Democrat, it is very diverse and has a large Muslim population.

I had many problems with Clinton however I preferred her over Trump.

My prediction for the Trump campaign. A second Korean War and Trump dollars.

Four years, people. Four years.

Technically only two. The entire House of Representatives and most of the Senate is up for election in 2018.

But Trump will remain president throughout.

Ya know, we could live in fear... OR as a nation, US citizens can come together, (as a planet really) stop blaming each other, and protest and hold people accountable. Whenever the establishment steps out of line, we gotta push them back. Otherwise, election after election it's going to keep repeating itself and get worse each time.

This year will no undoubtedly go down as a terrible year in world history. However, here are things that happened IN AMERICA without a Trump Presidency (No Trump required):

-Media blackout/arresting media for covering the news

-Whistle blowers punished for bringing to light corporate/government corruption

-Women getting denied lifesaving medical attention because most of the hospitals are run by Catholics interests and the treatment goes against their beliefs

-US bombing schools and hospitals in other countries and going to war over false pretenses, so MANY war crimes committed

-Police brutality of cops killing unarmed citizens and good cops getting punished for not shooting first

-Cops protecting corporate interests over citizens

-Protestors/Protectors arrested for praying, charged with felonies, kept in dog kennels without clothes, food, and medical needs, with numbers written on their arms.

-US government ignoring treaty land rights and again oppressing Native Americans

-Citizens have to filter the water in their homes because it's so contaminated

-Michigan is still without clean water with no one answering for contaminating their water

-Low income housing built over a Lead Smelting plant causing many health problems

Is this really America?

There's been a scary spiral for a while now and it time for people around the world to take a page from Standing Rock and come together for important change.

The establishment, no matter which side, Republican/Democratic, doesn't matter, won't fight for the peoples' interests. People will have to fight for their own self interests and not fall back asleep.

Third party voter here. To my non-surprise, We are already being shat on for supposedly "helping Trump win".

Yeah...NO.

You know who helped that clown win? The Republican party for not doing a better job of keeping Trump from playing in the metaphorical baseball game for their team as well as the Democratic party for choosing the worst , bar none, player from their team to go up and bat for them when they already had a home runner with Bernie Sanders, but nooooooo "muh feminism" this and "she's better qualified despite having an alarming amount of skeletons in her closet!" that.

But whatever. American political logic dictates that you must blame others for your problems, not yourself. All I'm saying is that Trump winning is not on us, the ones who voted for the greater good, not the self defeating "lesser of two evils" bullshit that got us into this mess and will continue to until the Green Party or whomever rises up offering a viable alternative to the redundant two party system that plagues America. Hopefully we got the minimum percentage needed to receive proper funding for the next election 4 years from now.

With that said, at least I can personally take comfort in the fact that Trump won't be able to enact even a quarter of his planned itinerary as President because of how our government actually works, not how he thinks it works. Furthermore, should he so much as try to undo gay marriage in America, I suspect the same people complaining about him winning today will rise up and burn both Trump Tower and that cringey hairdo he sports.

Presidents have zero power to undo supreme court justice rulings. They never have and never will.

This is a good summary:

Um, you do know Bernie is a feminist. He stated so several times and is probebly more feminist than Clinton.

I think the reason he didn't get chosen was he came off as a little extreme to some people.

No. The real reason had nothing to do with that and everything to do with the DNC rigging the primaries so that their queen could win despite being incredibly unqualified for the job.

As for the feminism remark, I think its safe to say most people particularly women only voted for Clinton because she's a woman the same way lots of people including black people only voted for Obama back in 2008 because of his ethnicity. I know my own mother has made it clear she only likes Hillary because she hates the old white "privileged men" on the Republican side that much more. (Not that white supremacy is a good thing mind you. Look at Hitler)

I'm pretty sure most people voted for Clinton because they hated Trump. While there are people who picked her because she is female, I think the majority of people picked her because she had experience in politics. She represented the "typical politician" which was something that was also used against, hence the whole "part of the establishment".

I know you may hate me, but I thought Obama was a good president, that is why I voted for him for his second term.

As for the "rigging", I know there is some bias in the DNC however I won't be surprise the the internet hypes these types of issue. There were plenty of people who simply said that Bernie could not win, especially with "socialist" used as an attack word by the right against liberal policies.

Rest assured Nick. I still like you as a person. I'm just stating my own political beliefs now that the moment is opportune in wake of what happened last night. One thing we can both agree on however is this. Obama never shot his mouth off everyday, then "apologize" the next day only to say something even dumber/worse the following week in a weird illogical inverse of the "boy who cried wolf" story.

This! This! ^ Seriously no one talks about this... I am feeling the same way.

Plus, he isn't as bad as people say, the media did skew a lot of what he said. I'm not saying he is a saint or even a good man... But in all honesty if Hillary won it'd show the corruptness of the whole system... I mean, she was a liar, she didn't do much when she was in office. She took credit for bills she had nothing to do with. She was using illegal money, from donors who had special interests. Plus the whole Putin thing... Over all, it will just be interesting. But it's only 4 years.
