I know I've posted way too much on this thread but I realized something just now.
For comics with longer episodes, where it's several pages long, this update doesn't affect them as much. But for short comedy/slice of life comics such as mine, it's a bit worse. Now that you can't just scroll to the next episode, readers will have to click through each individual episode, which is only one page long. People are going to stop reading because of all the extra clicks. This is a major flaw in the new system, but I believe it's intentional. Tapas' main goal isn't to promote smaller comic creators. It's to make money off of their large paid series. We all might as well go back to Smackjeeves and Webtoons, because we don't have much left here at Tapas.

Honestly. I am just ragingly pissed about this. I am usually a pretty calm, whatever kind of person. I get heated about some things here and there.

But then I get pissed off.

And when I get this pissed off, it's not pretty.

So I m just going to say this outright and in a way that won't get this post flagged/hidden or deleted.

@michaelson @Yoon You have betrayed us. You have betrayed this community and its users. You have actually hurt me personally with this update. I have no pity for you, no forgiveness whatsoever. Say what you want, it will fall on deaf ears.

The ONLY reason I am not immediately leaving this site is, again, because of my readers on here. If it weren't for them, I would be deleting everything by the end of the day.

I sincerely hope you reconsider this CLONING - it is NOT a redesign, it is a CLONE - and take your user base's feelings into account.

I already know you won't since I am sure millions have been spent on this mind-boggling disgraceful cloning, but I am still sincerely asking this cloning to be reconsidered and the old or an improved version of Tapas restored.

What I really want to say is actually much more aggressive and vile than this but I am trying to keep some sense of decorum here.

I don't like it one bit cap'n.
The exclusion of freshly updated comics on the front page makes it incredibly hard to find anything that isn't directly promoted by Tapas itself. I'm worried this is gonna strangle everybody really hard except for Tapas' personal comic alumni.
May need to think about moving somewhere else where I can get at least the chance of more views...

And they had yet to do that Ink clarification that the other thread was asking so much about, too, but now I'm more inclided to believe that OP that they were never planning on doing it and just biding their time.

DeviantArt is trying to do the same thing with their 'Eclipse' nonsense and that garnered a lot of similar complaints about the brightness/darkness issue. It actually gave me a headache to look at it.

I started working on a comic around a year ago, on Webtoons. But just last month I decided to move it to Tapas, because Webtoons is kind of turning into some big evil corporation thing, and I don't want my comics being supported by that. So I moved to Tapas, thinking it was safe. Well now they've gone and fucked the whole thing up. Now it's 100 times harder to even navigate, which is purposeful so that users spend more time on the site. Also, not as related, I can't see how many notifications I have. I know it's not that big a deal, but I like seeing how many I have. And so that just adds another reason to utterly hate this new update.

At least Eclipse is Dark Mode by default, this is headache-inducing. The top yellow bar was REALLY useful for breaking it up before.

But seriously my biggest concerns with the new re-design are the subscribe button being harder to find and that Patreon links are harder to see. The rest, I can give or take, but I guess I’m also a “mid-sized” novelist on here and can take the algorithmic hit from these changes. Others can’t.

the Community is falling apart, making a nice new banner (my friend literally updated his YESTERDAY) was a waste of our time, the site is really hard to look at and...
