Oh I agree, I just kind of squicked me out and it's on every page.

The sollution would be; variety

Both the binge section and the 'more like this' section.
Like, switch it out for different comics in those catagories every week or so?

That would already be a step in the good direction. I miss the old Tapas so much, it's not even funny.

Quick question: will our Dashboard be updated to show the new vertical Book Covers instead of the thumbnails?
Where will viewers see our thumbnails once Book Covers are entirely implemented?

It will be a gradual process as we increase the adoption rate of the Book Covers feature. Once the adoption rate is high enough then we'll be phasing out the thumbnails.

So our Dash's won't be immediately updated to show the covers in their place?

Unfortunately, this won't change immediately - as mentioned previously, we'll be implementing this change once we have a much higher adoption rate of the Book Covers. Hope that helps.

On pages of creators that have only 1 comic it will show the trending comics in that catagory.
However, it's a totally different list than the comics that are actually trending. How come?
BL catagory example;

I see this show up on every page. No variety and I feel it's unfair to smaller creators.

Eyo, gang let's uh-

Be just a little nicer now? Like I'm reading some of these current responses and while these are valid responses we don't have to be assholes, guys. It's been over a month since this change and like, yeah there are still a lot of issues n' bugs but hot damn the team is doing their best, I'd think. Like we should be grateful they're even taking the time to respond and fix things.

We are. Some of us still love Tapas. Right here
:heart_03:

Can you give an example of this 'asshole' behavior? Cuz I haven't seen any?

'Asshole' behavior is being mean/rude without feedback, telling someone they're wrong/bad without any reason why.
And while that was going down at the start of this layout change I haven't seen any of that lately. No one is telling tapas to hurry up either, especially not in current times.

All I'm seeing is people laying down questions and feedback so tapas can look at it and hopefully make tapas a better place.

Are they any news on the confort for readers? like infinit scorling? Or a roll back to the previous design that was way better on the reader side of things?

Or is it as always creators first, readers maybe one day if you have time?

I don't don't want to be arsh on you guys but things need to be said. On a computer Tapas had become a chore to use and read.

After weeks of usage there is what I feel.

I really miss the left side bar to know where I am in a serie, now Tapas feels empty.

That poping up poping out menu is a real real annoyance to say things in a polite way. I've closed some series too many times getting to the bottom of the page as I'm used to infinite scroll and completly forget of that menu thinking I'm at the last page.

I really miss having the first 3 series of my red list at the bottom of the page and not in a hidden menu somewhere. It made things clear about where I was in my reading.

Same for the suggestion being on the left I NEVER look at them. Once at the bottom of the page I close the page because there is nothing left there.

As the creator I agree the suggestion are ALWAYS the 5 same series. When I glance at the suggestion its always the same 5, its annoying I'd like to discover some real new things; And what is worse is finding series I already follow in there. Why are you still showing them to me?

On the same not I would love to have a way to ban some suggestion of my feed because I've already read them and finished them for finished stories or because its something I don't like and don't want to read. In the suggestions I want to see something fresh and new, not the same 5 series that has been there for 5 or 10 years and that you can fin on every meme website around the world.

And if there is a thing I really really tired to see are all these mangas style things you push down our throat. I love that style but there is other style I'd like to see please. Seriously 90% of my front page is manga style comics, and it wasn't always like that.

An other little thing is the Mature content, there only is to pay comics in there, I'd like to see free adult comics too.

And last is can i hae please a way to customize my front page with comic genre that I like and want to read? Its not that I'm against BL and romance comics I love them but some weeks they made the majority of the suggestion. I'd liek to see other things I like please.

I'm sorry but I don't recognise the the tapas I registered to. And more and more I feel like there is only attention given to creators in the detriment of the readers, you know the ACTUAL user of Tapas? The people who you should aim first so they come back and read comics here because they feel at home? You know the people who give you revenues through adds and inks, the same money you can give back to creators.

Honestly kind of irked that 'recently updated' works are no longer on the front page alongside 'staff picks' and 'trending' titles. I think having that be one of the first things people see when they enter the site really helped drive traffic to the lesser known creators, and that removing it from the home page is taking away that chance for those smaller creators to grow their audience. Just my two cents on the matter.

I can confirm that it's definitely hurt me as a smaller creator. I would get new likes and follows with each update of some of my older comics, but recently when I spent a good hour or two putting up a school project I did a couple of semesters ago, there was absolutely zero interaction. Granted, it was a parody comic so I'd get if it weren't most people's thing... but zero? It's just weird considering my past experiences on Tapas, where I felt like a creator that could be found despite not having a huge social media presence or even drawing at the same caliber as a lot of bigger artists.

The redesign itself discourages people from liking pages or subscribing to comics, which already sucks, and all of the visibility small creators once had is gone. I think there are a lot of great big series on Tapas, but it also sucks that unless you're already a popular artist or have a decent following on other social media, there's not much you're going to get. It's also been my experience that it's a chore to try and convince people outside of Tapas to create Tapas accounts when they read your comic so that you can get likes/subscriptions that will help/allow you to monetize your comic, so it honestly the whole thing just feels like a betrayal on Tapas' part, in their grand quest to become a Webtoon clone. (And honestly, I've seen smaller creators get a hundred times more visibility on Webtoon, despite Tapas previously having felt like a lot more of a community site. That might just be due to its larger numbers, but cloning it isn't going to help Tapas stand out as a platform).

I agree with blackdevil72 that the reading experience has just become miserable on desktop. Tapas used to have an awful mobile app and an amazing desktop site. Now they have a mediocre mobile app and an awful desktop site. It's just really disappointing, and I've seen other creators complaining about the changes on Twitter. I honestly hope new changes come soon, but I'd be much happier to see Tapas simply revert everything considering that generally everything but well-wishes to the team has been negative feedback. Tapas users care about Tapas succeeding and just simply don't see this update as compatible with that goal. That's why there's half a thousand comments on this thread and it keeps growing every day. I want to see Tapas succeed, and I hope it keeps pushing forward with everything in it's power to fix whatever needs to be fixed and not just become another pretending-to-listen Crunchyroll.

it's a chore to try and convince people outside of Tapas to create Tapas accounts when they read your comic

Completely true. Some people only ever comment on the preview image posted on DeviantArt despite reminders that comments are greatly prefered on the Tapas page itself, not the preview. People even favourite the preview image, that has a big PREVIEW plastered on it, which suggests they don't even click on the link to the actual comic. You're right of course, one can't force people to sign up for Tapas, or anything else, but it doesn't stop this being irritating!

First off I want to commend the Tapas Team for all the hard work and amazing updates that they have implemented in the site! I love the new layout so far. It is super user friendly and I love the comments on the side bar, it makes way more sense.

Also I really like being able to select multiple genres.
I just wish you could search multiple genres.

I really like Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Romance type stories. But I can't input "show me all stories that have fantasy and action or romance and adventure. And if I click on fantasy, it won't show me the stories that have a secondary genre as fantasy.

There are a lot of stories to weed through and I think that being able to filter through them somehow by adding additional search parameters would really help narrow down the titles that I want to read.

I think this could also help authors. I feel like it would help newer books to grow faster if they were less likely to get lost in the shuffle. I really don't know how all of that stuff works though.

I don't remember what the library features were like before the big redesign--I'm not sure I subscribed to much then--but I've been having a really hard time managing my library, trying to figure out what stories I'm in-progress reading, what stories I've caught up on, and what stories I have yet to start. It's actually forced me to use my RSS reader to manage the stories I have caught up with; otherwise, they tend to get lost in the shuffle.

I think custom lists like Wattpad would be nice, but honestly I know that's probably a lot of work and I just really, really would like something like Royal Road's Follow List, which works extremely well--it gives you all the stories you subscribe to, including the most recent chapter you have read, plus the latest chapter and when it was posted. Simple and easy and very nice. If you outright stole that design t would improve my personal experience with the site dramatically.

Maybe the library wasn't part of the redesign so this might be the wrong place to post this.
