Hey tapas folks!

I am planning to start posting my comic30 on webtoons and am looking for anyone who has pointers and tips on the matter.

I don't plan to change the format of the pages for vertical scrolling because I don't think it would work well with how a number of the pages are laid out after viewing tutorials such as this8 and I currently don't have time right now to reconstruct the pages.

I am worried that presenting the comic as a single page and the comic being in greyscale will put it at a disadvantage with reaching an audience so I was hoping to receive wisdom from other creators who use the platform.

Have you found certain approaches work for you in building an audience? Do you format your comic to for a vertical scroll or do you keep it as a single page? Would posting larger chunks of pages (so it is more similar to a long form format) rather than more frequently with single pages be advisable?

What's worked for you folks and how have you adapted your strategy to fit different platforms?

If you have examples of your comic on both webtoons and tapas I would be delighted to see them.

Thank you all for your time and pointers!

Okay, I was remaking the whole comic for the Webtoons format just a few months ago, so a bit of my experience.

Originally we posted in page format for a year and had a small audience, but some time after we cut it into scroll, we made it to the front page. I don't know if that's coincidence, but that's what I am building on! :Đ·

90% of our comments before cutting was "it is nice and all, but please remake it to be phone friendly", aka scroll format. So that's something to be expected, especially since you have quite a bunch of panels per page.

The font is too small. It would become better when you make one panel the same width as a screen (but probably not enough anyway). I know, I had the same problem

Most people would prefer longer updates to shorter. They could complain "we need long episodes once a week", but most of them voted long updates even if rarely.

I don't think comic being black and white is bad, there are quite a nice amount of very popular b&w comics out there!

I see that your comic would be pretty hard to cut and there are some good amount of pages already... Though I think it could be worth a while, no one is rushing you ^^
But also, there are popular comics there that are still in traditional format! Since your episodes are pretty long, you may not need it. Imho it would be better to cut it, but I am not sure how much time you'll spend to do it... So maybe just try to put it on Webtoons for beginning, maybe you'll make it to the front page immediately!

I am still doing the comic in traditional pages on Tapas and just cut them for Webs later.

I do the vertical thing but noticed that I get less subs now that I do it, so it's not always the norm. It does take a lot time, especially since I draw my pages with the traditional format in mind and have to manually cut and arrange all the episodes; I only have regrets when I update so don't feel pressured to do so as well.

I know people say webtooners love vertical scrolling colored comics but I've seen many comics that use the trad. form and become popular super fast. Your comic looks good and clean and will find readers!

Thank you for the advice and the kind words! I appreciate you taking the time to tell about your experience, it is most valuable!

Thanks for giving your experience. Text size is definitely something to consider and you are right, the current font size I use for the comic will be too small for webtoons.

That may be reason alone to reformat because blowing up the text and bubbles and keeping the layout as is would obscure a lot of the art in the traditional format.

And congratulations on finding what worked for building an audience on the platform!
