What are good tools for someone trying to make a webcomic?

I have been messing with several software for manga and art but don't know any good ones suited for me or my basic/amateur skill level or any other tools I may need.

Are there any specific styles or looks you want to achieve? Post some links of examples and I may be able to suggest some tools.

If you don't have any specific look in mind, you can use pretty much anything you have -- including good ol' pencil and paper!

I use Clip Studio. Pretty good price point for all the tools I really want, though admittedly it is the only tool I've bought so I don't really have much room for comparison. I suppose Medibang Paint could work as a plausible free alternative.

That being said, you say that you're at a basic level, so I think it would be preferable for you to focus more on just practicing as much as possible with whatever you have. Including, as @keii4ii mentioned, pencil and paper.

I regularly use SAI, because using the lineart tool allows me to manipulate my lines more easily, and make the desired changes I want to see in a piece of work.

I also use Medibang paint, because it's a free and easy tool to use for my final additions, like text and word bubbles, and the panel making tool is incredibly helpful. There's alot of other stuff there to help make a full-fledged comic, if you want to invest your time in it.

I use traditional penciling and inking with microns and dip pens just like in Bakuman. I add my screentones, textures, text and sound effects with Manga Studio 5 and sometimes I do special edits in GIMP 2.8.
GIMP is a program that works similar to Photoshop, you can even add Photoshop brushes in that program plus it's 100% free.
Sometimes I color is SAI but not as often as I used to.

Since you said your armature then I'd recommend a free program like GIMP for now plus many artists have made beautiful art with that program.

I'd suggest using Krita. http://www.davidrevoy.com/ This guy uses it a lot and has plenty of tips and its free. I find gimp to be weird and lacking so I don't recommend it for amateurs.
But to be honest basically any software is good enough to make a webcomic, the software doesn't really matter. It would be good to let us know what you used and what you liked and didn't like about them. Many people use different software and have different opinions about them, personally I don't like switching between software so I stick with Photoshop even though I have Clip Studio Paint, Paint Tool Sai, and Sketchbook.

I alternate between Clip Studio, Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop. I do the line work usually on Paint Tool Sai these days though, and do the coloring part on either Photoshop or CS.

freeware all the way for beginners. there's a program called medibang paint thats really nice if you want something free for making comics. it comes with a lot of options if you want the manga feel and one of it's unique aspects is that it comes with a mobile app for drawing as well. It's insane how useful it is if you're on the go a lot.

It's also made by the developers of fireplaca which is also a freeware you can use for making comics.

^ Definitely this. Always good to have Anime Ace around when you need it. Font can have a big impact on how people read a comic, so choosing one that fits is essential.

Photoshop and paint tool said are the main ones to be used. But if your looking for something to experiment with media bang paint is a free art program that's like paint tool sai.

I use Sai, Photoshop, and Manga Studio. I use Sai for lineart and most coloring, because its easier than using Photoshop in my opinion. I use Manag Studio for speech bubbles and text. And lastly I use PS for editing environments like adding trees etc. and resizing the image to post here.
