What body types do you have the easiest time drawing? Hardest?

I have the easiest time drawing short and chubby people (probably because I am one) and curvy body types. Round faces, etc. Mostly just female bodies though. I'm not great at drawing guys in general, though I am improving, and really tall or really thin people are basically impossible for me atm,

i like to think i've got a good balance between drawing most body types but i definitely lean more into rounder or softer body shapes than more muscular ones so it's something i'm hoping to tackle while working on my comics. muscled or toned body types are definitely the hardest for me which is painful given i have characters who are meant to have that build but i'll do whatever it takes to get better for their sake x'D

beyond all that i think the next hurdle to overcome would be actually drawing them consistently or at least close enough ^^;

I'm mostly good/used to drawing thin and athleticly built characters.

I'm quite proficient at bulky muscle types as well, though in my speed I can often lose a bit of volume.

I rarely if ever draw chubby to fat bodytypes. It's not something I find 'fun' to draw and thus is a bit of a blindspot for me.

I feel like I’m good at drawing average looking men and kids.

I’m not good at drawing busty women.

For me, the easiest body type to draw is my own cuz I can just look in the mirror and draw what I see XD That's why you'll see a lot of skinny androgynous bodies in my stuff.
The hardest for me is really beefy buff people. All those muscles are so complicated and I constantly have to rely on many references for it.

Easiest? Tall, lightly and evenly muscled men (what one might call a "Swimmer's build"). Daecon and Owen are examples of this:

I'm not particularly good at other types, but I can do them. For example Dionysius is short and stocky, while Leander is short and very muscular. I call Leander my "Attack hamster". I should point out that Dion's hair is not silver due to age: His hair was silver as a child. He is hundreds of years old but would have the appearance of a human man in his mid 50's.

Hardest? Women. I suck at drawing women. I don't know whether it's because I'm gay and therefore never had much desire to study their anatomy, but I just find getting their shapes right to be difficult. Or, as I once said in a different thread, "Boobs are hard". Even if they really are soft.

I'm surprised how many people said drawing curvy, chubby, and female body types was a struggle. People I know have regularly said that drawing girls is hard but I never understood it.

I think probably I struggle drawing super muscular people the most? I much rather draw someone that doesn’t look like a body builder just because I’m not as familiar with how the body looks like when it’s super muscular. Most people I observe around me do vary a lot body wise but no one’s ever like SWOLE so I think my art reflects like a wide range of people, and I like making distinct character designs and they range from really short to super tall, to very boxy and thin to more curvy.

But also this is very funny because my Abuelo is 5’5” body builder and I still can’t draw muscles well lol I myself am very short too but I’m also very plus size. None of my abuelo’s children took after him tho they’re all on the chubbier side except for one aunt is very very petite! I think I do tend to draw people it’s softer angles.

Softer angles are my go to as well lol. Drawing pretty...squishy girls is bordering on an obsession. I can draw girls in every varying range of curvy, chubby, plus-sized. I'm just not good at drawing thin people, but I'm trying to practice because my newest female lead defies all my skills. She is super thin, very tall and has almost zero curves.

But I'm still on the....squishier side myself, so that's probably why I've spent so much time drawing plus-sized girls. It's kind of therapeutic and has helped my self esteem to realize I can draw girls who are plus-sized AND pretty, sexy etc.

Yeah i definitely lean towards more squish too lol, even when it’s a thinner character i think i make them more soft. But sometimes i do have more angular characters and they can be fun to draw as well :)! I’ve been both thin and big in my lifetime but I drew plus size characters when I was thin too, I also like showing that beauty can be represented on someone plus size. And now as someone who is bigger I def agree it is therapeutic.

And my Abuelo has been and is just a hobbyist, but he IS still very serious about it. He’s been body builder since he was in his 20s apparently. I think maybe he never qualified for competition because he was shorter? Not really sure… maybe he just didn’t have the time, he worked in carpentry a lot, that’s what he did professionally. But for reference he currently looks like a Mexican Hayao Miyazaki (I feel like he bought the similar glasses in recent years because his kids kept on telling him he looked like him ) only buff. He’s not as buff as when he was younger though, he was like actually super buff in old photos. Pretty iconic imo.

Woah that’s so trippy I’m way too Alicia coded it’s kinda scary at this point lol my dad also worked in carpentry when I was a kid and teen despite going to art college but now he works with my mom as a jewelry artist!

Maybe I should honestly but I have such a hard time reading long form writing online, it’s why I don’t really follow any novels here. I’ve never been able to read an ebook for some reason, or fanfic either, but I’m sure it would save me some space I am running out bookshelf room like I even have a hard time editing my written stories digitally so I usually print them out to proof read I’m only capable at most reading articles online it feels like I’m some sort of old person but I’m not even that ancient lol

And yes I do have a little bro! He’s really close in age to me though, but he’s two years younger. He is my bestie.

Yeah, I struggle with realistic poses on more full-figured and skinny people. I have one heavier-set man in my series, and he's been challenging to capture accurately.
