I've so far been pretty good on keeping my panels interesting in comics, though I do seem to like the SURPRISE PIKACHU face since my characters get caught off-guard a lot. (I also really like the -.- eyebrows judgy face... whenever I see one I just burst out laughing, no matter how bad the joke is).
In prose writing though, MY CHARACTER SIGH ALL THE TIME. HE SIGHED. SHE SIGHED. THEY ALL SIGH, AND RUN THEIR HANDS THROUGH THEIR HAIR. I tell myself we can fix it in post, but it's honestly cringe-levels of sighing.
I will also always have these three characters: femme fatale who has a complicated relationship with the younger protagonist, who flips back and forth between being an antagonist and a mentor; the wide-eyed blonde boy who thinks he's a man but boy does he not know much about the world; the long-haired immortal dude of some origin closer to the equator (not always literally) who likes to mess with people's heads but who isn't inherently a villain. At first I was like OH DEAR I need to vary me some of these characters and then I was like ah whatever, they're different enough and I like 'em.
