What do you guys do while you write comics?

I usually just listen to slow rock and drink an EXORBITANT amount of sweetened green tea

I fill up my giant two-pint spongebob cup with water and insert giant reeses cups into my mouth every 5 minutes while listening to ambient ska music.

I listen to Japanese rock and have a glass of water/juice/soda next to me to sip from. Sometimes there's snack around but most of time I forget about food while drawing. xD

I'll put some music on in the background (mostly a full album of something so it's uninterrupted for a long time) or I'll try to find some kind of 2-3 hour video I can listen to. Normally it's a movie or video game critique.

It's interesting that alot of you listen to music when you write. I used to as well, but I started to find that the music had a tendency to lead my mood when I was writing, so I started to drop it so I could get a bit more control over the tone I was going for. No problem listening to it when I draw though.

I start off listening to jazz to get the momentum going, then I actually like to work in silence.

Listen to inspirational music. Just as much for setting the tone as for blocking out distractions. Sometimes I put specific songs on loop if they feel relevant to a scene I'm working on. I try to remember to stay hydrated and stop for food and whatnot, but when I get in the zone I kind of forget about the rest of the world. Except pets. I will put aside anything to pet cat or dog.

Sometimes on Saturday mornings, I watercolor the page while watching my writer Brani play a videogame over Skype. It's fun!

Podcasts via Stitcher. I like informational/educational podcasts. Fiction/story podcasts interfere with my work though.

i BINGE television shows. like, voraciously. they are always playing (partially because i live alone and some part of me thinks that the sound of people talking will drive away ghosts)

I like to watch crime docs and a show called "unsolved mysteries". I write a mystery/crime/supernatural manga, so watching stories in my genre helps with my creative process. Sometimes if I have a certain emotion or atmosphere for a certain scene or chapter I will make a music playlist for it to capture the mood and play it on repeat.

I do the same while I draw pages too. Lol Usually I have drinks and snacks nearby because when I work, it is often 6+ hours at a time.
