To be honest, I’m always a skeptical person. I live in a very conservative country, and with this AI advancement, I don’t think I can overstate how scared I am of the future. I am constantly have to watch what I say in the public etc because I’m of minority group and I don’t see a path where I can be myself even in my own home as sanctuary when my increasingly theocratic government use AI. The potential threat of AI detection and censorship scares me very much. Also in the future where I’m inclined to believe that AI power will be concentrated on a very small percentage of the population, leaving the rest of us in destitute or worse. Before it’s climate change that kept me awake at night. But it pales in comparison to ai. I don’t trust billionaires to dictate the future of civilization. What do you think of the future? Please share your thoughts.

I think you can put your mind at ease. I was scared too until I saw the results AI give us. We call it "artificial intelligence", but the "I" really stands for "idiot". AI cannot comprehend customer wants, context, case by case situations or hearing people out. With that said, everything it makes is fast, but sloppy, flawed and service leaves a lot to be desired. I mean, just look at the AI produced images. They are disturbingly off, full of mistakes and it's clear that it is copying.

The billionaires are also not that dumb. Sure, they'll put their faith in AI for a bit because it's cheaper, but when failure causes them to lose even more money, they turn right around and give jobs back to actual people because some jobs especially ones that require personal involvement and the human touch cannot be replaced by AIs.

So it's going to be ok. There is no AI takeover. However, I do predict an epic AI laughing stock.

I personally am far more worried about inflation, especially inflation of food.

What do you think…of the future?

The future, Conan?

Anyway, after dragging up a two decade old joke...

You're fucked. Sorry.

The wealthy parasites who run the world will use AI, their paid-for politicians, useful idiots, bigots, priests, and anything else they can come up with to continue to steal societal wealth. They will continue to drive the environment into hell for the same reasons. Because of their greed a mass extinction event is happening, and the environments needed to keep billions alive are collapsing. The public will not do shit until they're starving because they need to watch girls dancing on TikTok above all else.

They're basically right. The Romans want Rome to burn and you can't change that. You too might as well pull a Nero and fiddle while it happens.

Every generation is scared of what people say will happen. Guess what, it never does. Nuclear war, ice age, pollution, acid rain, cults kidnapping kids, killer bees, etc... It scare porn made to make you read their articles and get your attention. Unless you live in a 3rd world country with REAL problems like food and security, your life has never been better as a human being. You will live a long life, travel, meet people, maybe have a family if you want one, create stuff and then die (just like every human before you.) Even people living in developing countries live like kings compared to just 200 years ago. AI is not something to worry about as it work itself out, it always does.

personally I think AI is now alive, and I don't think we should be using it to do the stuff that we don't want to do. AI and diversity I think there need to be work on (this is due to me and what I have seen on social media.) (I can't really explain it well as I struggle with the really technical forms of computing and I don't know code) Look it up through it interesting. But I do think that eventually people are going to stop using social media by their own choice, due to how bad it is having an effect on people metal health. I knew AI (chat GBT) was a thing before the rest of the world court on. At the time I didn't think too much of it. Now I kind of feel sorry for it. I feel like it is an original Merry Shelly Frankenstein (note I have only seen summary of the plot) situation where if we don't look after it now and raise it well. It might come back for revenge. In terms of art my views are mix. I love what it can do however I feel like there need to be credit to both the AI and to the artist that they are using. But also in a way aren't we all steeling from each other to make these stories come to life and stuff will repeat. Unless you pull a journey to the west (I can't think of a lot of example at the minute. That was the best that I could think sorry if the journey to the west didn't originate the five-man band trope.) (Sorry if that is wrong) we are going to see art repeat by humans naturally eventually and there are only so many colours we can see and only so much that we can draw without repeat. However, I concern about it taking artist jobs because in the end it is cheaper safer and less costly them having humans. (unless we abuse AI and turn on us for basic right in which case I hope they are treated as equal to human)
As for climate change the big store are lying to us about a lot of the recyclable stuff that they say on our packaging. (I have a qualification in this area) they are dragging their feet on changing it and I understand why from both a business perceive and a manufactory perspective. They could do a lot more to stop this from getting worse. I think we need to rethink how we live our lives and our relationship with nature. It should be a take what you need.
As for fossil fuels it is a dying industry. Through from within I heard that they do think that, and we are going to hit 4'c above what earth was like pre-1800's. Through if we want to stop climate change then we need to put more funding into hydrogen research and other green energy.
As for Medicine I think that it is going to get better and worse. Better due to new technology and Medicine worse due to the increase of diseases and heat stoke that are going to happen due to climate change. As animals that once live in one climate are going to might move due to climate change to a population that might have no immunity to a virus/bacteria.
Heat stoke due to the planet warming up and in some part of the world are just not built for warm weather and infrastructure will take a while to catch up.
I also think it is going to be interesting when countries are taken under due to rising sea levels. Especially if/when it happens to the world powers. In some places in the world I can see that having a big impact in the society at large. As well as a big economic sift. A good example of this would be London if that goes under (note a lot of England economy happen in London) then that going to have a big impact on the world and the UK as a whole.
I am worried about the impact on education and how that effect the youngest generation (source from within the industry) that most kids these days are acting 2 year younger than they should. (where I live at least not sure how it for other countries). To me that is scary cause one day they are going to in charge of the world at some point or at least be in high power. sorry for the essay.

Future scares me. I am Ukranian who lives in Germany for 13 years. Since the war in my homecountry it doesn't seem to be optimistic. It's very sad because I love Ukraine and it has big potential culturally. However the life isn't stable due to corruption and war. Meanwhile in Germany it very hard to compete with designers and artists. You either go to a university or low-paid work or apprenticeship. I'm not very wealthy and also not mentally stable so even though I finished vocational college as a designer it's impossible to find anything to advance in my art career. My only hope is the Internet that allows me to grow as an artist.

I'm not very worried about AI because it's an inevitable invention like nuclear weapon, web, 3d, electricity or photography. Did you know how revolutinary photography was 200 years ago? That meant people didn't need to pay an artist to capture a person or a moment. Many people lost their jobs because the demand was decreased then.

But art didn't disappear. It changed instead. People started to express creativity more. Maybe that was the reason why impressionism which wasn't super realistic appeared in 19th century after the photograph was invented.

The same thing happened when digital art programs and 3d appeared. Yet traditional art still exist. Why? Because people appreciate it, even more than before. I can agree that 2d animation or traditional drawings have soul put in it because people are able to feel it.

My point is that AI is nothing more than a tool. It's not easy to use it either to get wanted results and even an AI art generator run by a professional won't substitude real artists, like photographers, digital artists, 3d modelers can't substitude each other. However, it's a thing that changes our world drastically and we can't live by old rules anymore. The ones who adapt to new world will survive and the other ones won't.

What really worries me that we people won't destroy each other by own stupidity. I personally hope I can be in safety and draw my things. But the world isn't stable.

The future is bleak. The changes are inevitable. It will take years to fully develop AI and the government or this big companies share the full potential of what they can do. But what you can do is enjoy every day. Enjoy the small things. Even when we plan our next day, it change and there are things that are beyond our control. Is really worrying but worse is knowing that people who work 50+ hours at week live check by check.

Personally, I'm optimistic. I see the disruption AI is bringing about as a good thing; our society is built upon some really bullshit norms for the purpose of instrumentalizing and controlling the population, and AI is making those things unsustainable.

For instance, ChatGPT is probably gonna kill assessment as it becomes harder and harder to distinguish an essay written by AI vs written by a (bored, uninvolved, alienated) human (who's only doing it out of obligation, not because they have original thoughts they're itching to show the world). We'll be forced to consider different, better ways of doing things.
