I have 2 songs, one for each half of the story.
First being "Here's to the Fall" by Kamelot, but alas it does not exist on Youtube
(If you have spotify, however, you can load the webplayer and listen here https://play.spotify.com/track/2Z9h7XKnj1jmdOfZY6dxog)
My interpretation of the song is the meaningless of life, and the loss of faith in your god. Which is exactly what the main character of Memory Lane is struggling with, having lost faith in the god he devoted his life to, and thus walking in the dark, haunted by his demons.
The other song is How Did You Love by Shinedown
Again, my interpretation of the song is no matter how much you have, how rich or how beloved you were, because the people you touched will remember you by how you were, how you cared, not by what you owned or the achievements you claimed.
It is specifically the first part of the song that fits the most, as my main character grows and becomes stronger.
*You can have the sound of a thousand voices calling your name.
You can have the light of the world blind you, bathe you in grace.
But I don't see so easily what you hold in your hands.*
*Cause castles crumble, kingdoms fall and turn into sand.
You can be an angel of mercy or give into hate.
You can try to fight it just like every other careless mistake.
How do you justify, I'm mystified by the ways of your heart.
With a million lies the truth will rise to tear you apart.*
Sorry for the wall, I just get overly existed when songs fit my stories or characters haha xD
