Most likely the side character friend who makes the protagonist look good and charismatic in comparison, as they get the best moments, as I go "Oh wee wow, your the best, wow". I have no desire to show up the protagonist nor get involved in their garbage love life.

Then suddenly turn out to be working as a minion to the antagonist. Duh Duh DuH

I like your answer and it would certainly be interesting to experience the life of such a character since we usually don't get much insight into that.

RIGHT?! i've barely see times where get to see the insight of the rival character until the end of their arc or during their final confrontation with the mc.

I'd be the quirky best friend that uses her sarcastic charm to win the hearts of the MC's secret love interest who is scared to ask them out because they think we're dating. We'll have some oh so easily to take wrong cuddly movements that continue to drive the MC's love interst nuts until the final act when our bestie status is revealed and the MC lives happily ever after while I continue to hold the mantel of always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

Or maybe I've just been watching too many hallmark movies during quarantine.

I would be a ship captain no question asked :innocent:

Since main characters are usually so oblivious to their love.

I would be the kooky hermit who gives the protagonist important information to help in their journey.

Just like in real life I'd be a hermit side character who's only thought of in passing.

Okay, do I get any powers I want in this universe? :joy: My friends have told me I'd be the princely character or the really smart sciency character before. If I can choose any role I'd choose my favorite character type which is the over powered mischievous character who's good/bad alignment in the story is ambiguous, but leans more towards good. They're generally more a mentor character to the protagonist than the protagonist themselves.

Uhh, is there a reason why your friends think you'd be the "princely character"? I'm curious now, haha.

And good choice there, love that type of character!

I’d be the reluctant protagonist of a terrible story that doubts herself until the end where a randomly lucky event comes to bail her out.

The narrator.
Observing whilst keeping out of the chaos.
