Star Wars: A Phantom Menace. I was 7, my uncle took me into town to see it.
I know that movie gets a lot of flack, and a lot of it (dialogue especially) is justified, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of it as a 7-year-old. It had a cute boy my age in it, a princess I could pretend to be, jaw-dropping sci-fi scenery (the CGI back then definitely didn't look real, but I loved the slightly not-real look because, IDK, it made it more magical. I think it had the same effect on my uncle, who eventually got a doctorate in 3D imaging... Still remember him bringing goodies from CGI conventions, including Star Wars prequel behind-the-scenes stuff). A lot of people say the conflict in Phantom Menace was boring for kids, but I understood the basics and loved it (which is probably why I have a soft spot for political sci-fi to this day). Disputes over trade sounded like a very realistic grown-up problem.
I got all of the kids on my entire block to re-enact a "new and improved" version of the movie the next day.
