Just curious about it, whenever I'm writing my novel, I always have a goal of making 2 parts of a chapter, with each part containing at least 1200-1500 words, combining the two parts would make the chapter around 2500-3000 words, with some chapters only having one part and having 1500 words.

So now I'm wondering, what should be the best word count per chapter? I mainly prefer splitting chapters up into two parts to make it bearable for the reader, with the occasional one-part chapter to keep things engaging.

1500 words per chapter is ideal by Tapas standard

Tapas prefers shorter chapters.

However, I prefer reading and writing longer chapters. Personally, I write on the longer side of chapters. Averaging 3-4k words per chapter. Some are longer, my longest chapter being 7.8k words. And sometimes shorter, my shortest being 1.2k words.

Imo if the flow says to stop at one point or continue on then so be it.

1500 might be the standard if you're aiming for a certain price tier... as a Premium author. But, there are different tiers that authors generally follow.

800-1200
1300-2000
1500-2200

But it depends on the author's preference, of course. There's no "right way, wrong way" when it comes to the length if you're writing as a hobby.

And if you have a long chapter that is about to hit the character limit, why not split it and get double the views by making part 1 and part 2? lol
