Lately, it's been somewhat hard to make sure I read everything I've subbed to on here. Even more so when the updated section automatically takes you to the newest episode, even though you were near the start.

It'd be really handy if the updated section just took you took you to the recent episode you were reading. (Though I suppose just going to recently reading already does that)

I try to set aside an hour a week to follow, like and read everything I subbed form here. And sometimes when a story updates it reminds me to catch up.

Though reading novels take a bit more time than webcomics xd.

I try not to binge all of a comic at once, since it gives me something to come back to later. Plus I think spreading out your engagement probably helps the comic creator more.

I limit the series I subscribe to to things I actually plan to read, then read the updates as they come out.

since i've been away from tapas off n on (A LOT) it's tough to keep up especially with a reading list thats close to 1k depending on the day its basically just time and patience :sweat_02:

usually my go to has been binging things at once but for longer comics i'll usually pause when i feel like i can't keep reading or need a breather and tab it off either in my actual browser bookmarks or make a note in my personal discord server. it's the same method i use for independently hosted webcomics so it's at least a system i know and feel comfortable with

i think the only time it gets tricky is when i end up forgetting the plot for longer form/story based comics which kinda makes me feel bad so i try to wait till their done or binge em exclusively till i'm all caught up

if anything though having such a long backlog has pretty much stopped me from subbing to anything new unless it's also already done or genuinely looks interesting enough for me to wanna keep up with. it hasnt stopped me from checking out fics or comics on other platforms though but i tend to better keep up with those than stuff on tapas :sweat_01:

I will usually sub if something interests me, then place it in my queue because I've already got many other stories on the go. Once I've caught up with one of the other stories I will pic one of the new ones that has updated recently, then go back to its beginning and read a few episodes (typically 5-6 for a novel, 20-25 for a comic). Then when the series updates again it shows up in my notifications and I will read a few more, and I will repeat this until I get caught up. If the series never updates I will simply forget about it because ADHD.

This is why if you see me sub to your already established series you won't see any likes or comments from me for a long time, then suddenly I'll blast you with them. That means your series has come up in the queue and now I'm actually reading it.

Once caught up I read the updates as they come and like/comment as well.

Calling myself out, but I feel ya, life/drawing gets me busy and I've fallen far behind on reading too and I feel so guilty! (got 70+ stories to catch up on), but here's my current plan to catch up:

  • use my upload days (every other Saturday and Wednesday) to not draw at all, but to binge read comics, whichever I'm in the mood for
  • replace my nightly YT videos with reading a few chapters of a novel until I catch up. (should help me sleep too, lol)
  • remember to like/comment on recent updates, if I remember...it's a real problem that comes with binging

Gonna also take December off from drawing, so worst case, I should catch up on EVERYTHING (and y'all may see me back in the comments) by then!

For the record, I'm in a slow story arc rn, so feel free to read at your own leisure. It'll get more interesting in a few uploads. So, don't sweat the engagement stuff. I'll always be here.

Read a chapter or a few pages at once. Then jump to the next.
