What type of art bothers you?

I don't like hyper realistic art in comics...I just find it distracting.

But on the other end, I also dislike the white stick man look too. I don't know how to describe it, it's like Adventure Time or something but they have no clothes or hair or any defining features and they are just solid white. I dunno, I find it lazy.

Also Moé anime or anything which is trying to be super cute anime stuff or sparkly chibis.

I really love the art style of steven universe, I find it charming actually. I like art styles that are simple and appealing. I especially love the background artwork of su ahhh they're gorgeous. but at the same time they bug me, because of the way the lineart and the colors are a little bit off.

and that aesthetic choice is just a pet peeve of mine.

In terms of comics, and I'm not picking fights/intending to name anyone/calling out anything.

But overly artistic / visuals are more important than story / over use of 'show don't tell' / 'you don't get it because you don't get ART' bullshit.

It's like shit video games that get a free pass for sucking because they are 'artistic' (also not saying all artistic games are suck, but there seems to be a LOT that get higher ratings than they should because 'oh I guess it's artistic')

Shading/highlighting with burn and dodge, though I haven't seen much of this in years.really. Anything overusing too bright colors and hurts your eyes to look at...

I'm personally not a fan of hyperrealistic art, or typical "mainstream American superhero"-style. Even if well-done it's just not an aesthetic I'm too fond of.
Also certain types of "ugly"(not the same as badly drawn/technically bad!)- or "gritty"- looking styles - hard to describe what I mean by this, really, and even if I gave some examples there would be stuff with those elements what would be more acceptable, it's more of a "I know if when I see it" type thing. Maybe because I associate these kinds of styles with tryhard "edgy" deviantart trolls. Oh, and while we're on the topic, "grossout closeup"-type shots - not really an art style as much as an artistic choice, but just... no. It's not funny, just disturbing and annoying.

I see nothing wrong with people sharing the things that annoy them with art PERSONALLY - it's a good way of collecting data on thing that could potentially be annoying your audience.
Freedom of speech is still a thing, and I saw no one being disrespectful.
In regards with Steven Universe, I've always admired their backgrounds, but the character designs, especially that of Pearl, follows the rules of shapes and intend and I, personally, am not too keen on it. There's nothing wrong with that. We can't all like the same things, can we?

There are a few art styles I'm not fond of, first of which is the shoujo manga style in general: bug-eyed girls, guys with chins so pointy they could kill people, overly long legs, and the like. Madoka's art style (y'know, the wideface) ain't my cup of tea either.

There's something that irritates me about the well-memed Tumblr Nose Syndrome, too. They look like they have a perpetual cold.

Mine is art that is way too realistic and clean. I just can't see the emotions in to them. I'm not a fan of Marvel and DC either because of the same reason. I like to study them as references but not exactly something I admire.

Also, no offense to the fans out there but I personally I'm not that much of a fan of sakimi-chan's art. I just feel like her art looks the same even though she draws different characters and I just don't feel the emotion at all. Also other famous artists because the faces they draw look the same to my eyes.

Third, are those generic moe anime style. (ex: K-on, Chuunibyou, or any recent anime) I feel like every new artist are shooting for that style.

Art that are like the faces look identical and they only changed the hairstyle.

Senseless hentai/gore art that is obviously just a fan service and a cash cow.

Lastly, drawings that don't have proper foundation though I let this slide cus I know they're still learning.

Indeed freedom of speech is a thing and I'm practicing it.
All I'm saying is to be careful as artists, whether they are aware of it or not, are a snobby bunch.
When egos and works with emotional attachment are involved, ugly things can be born out of it.

Hahaha I didn't know that was being called "Tumblr Nose Syndrome" now. That was always a kinda weird trend though, when people give their characters prominent red blotches on their nose, cheeks, joints etc. Sometimes it looks cute, but if you overdo it (esp adding a white highlight to the red spots) it can look like the character's covered in huge pimples >>;;

Someone once said "if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen" and it might sounds hard, but if you can't handle some criticism, how are you supposed to learn? Even if the artist is young and inexperienced - if they stay afraid of people rippin them a new one instead of taking it and using it to get better, then, they'll never realize their full potential.

Ok, so I don't necessarily want to shit on anyone's artistic style for their comic, because I think that's kind of low. BUT, one thing that really makes me sad is amazing art paired with bad typography. Like when it's clear that the artist knows how to draw/color really well, but then they slap on an inappropriate font for the text and dialogue. It just throws me off to see great art with text that doesn't really match the art style. For example, a "comic sans" type of font on something that's not meant to be a gag. Font choice can change the entire tone of the comic!

There aren't a whole lot of styles that bother me, the worst I've come across is just being -meh-. Haven't actually seen SU, so I can't comment on the rise of similar styles, but I have heard some people call it "Tumblr style".
Really the only thing that bothers me is someone's lack of understanding in what they're drawing. Also SFS (Same-Face Syndrome). I've seen it done well when the characters have big/deep personalities that make them unique, but normally the characters are too subdued, which makes them all hard to tell apart. Especially with b&w comics.

Not meaning to butt in, but things only get ugly when you fan the flames. Artists like OwlGem are a good example, they had a whole hate article dedicated to them because they reacted really badly to a couple negative comments, and they were apparently so over-the-top bad that people thought it was funny. They would probably tell you now to ignore a it if you don't like what that person is saying.
I'm not saying that if someone is legit attacking you that you should ignore it (although it would be best to do, and just report them). But it's not the mere existence of the negative comment that will start a frenzy, it's the reaction to it that will. As @miseryhunting said, "if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen".

For me one turnoff is when there's no feeling in style. Characters just have faces that look like they're doing the pose without any feeling behind it. I actually like the 'house style' of marvel and DC but they can fall victim to this sometimes. And while it's not bad art-wise, I think that style would work better in cover art than in comic pages.

It's just that I've been around long enough to see quite a few webcomic communities collapse into a hate-fest with the logic that they were trying to help the artist.
I sometimes wonder if this an inevitable thing due to the nature of webcomics.

Tapastic is such a great place that I would hate to see it go down the same dark hole.
There are enough webcomic related cesspits out there.

Nah, Tapastic isn't going to turn into that. At least not for a long time, and most of us will probably be gone by then.
Even with these opinions this place is like a free love, hippie preschool compared to the rest of the net. The best you can do to keep it that way is to respect eachother's views whether or not we understand, or agree with them, and report people who want to start shit. Although a healthy debate isn't too bad every now and then.
