So true dude. So true.
This, you have to write for the market, not for yourself and writing for 'yourself' is pretty much what makes great books great.
Big reason why I won't entertain being anything but a hobbyist. Writing for anyone but myself sounds so soul sucking.
There are two ways I've seen artists handle this.
Become a sellout. Cry into your cash pile whenever someone calls you a sellout.
Be born soldout, thus you can never be called a sellout. Cash pile remains dry.
You can say that again.
I believe what Rick Rubin says about this topic
āThe audience comes last,ā he said, as he sat cross-legged in shorts and orange-tinted glasses. āI'm not making it for them. I'm making it for me. And it turns out that when you make something truly for yourself, you're doing the best thing you possibly can for the audience.ā

Gene Roddenberry said that about the first two seasons of Star Trek The Next Generation.
Then he got booted out of his role as show-runner and it became the beloved space drama it is today.

And no. Itās not an addiction it is a hyperfixation and there is nothing I can do about it. Itās just how my brain works so yaāll just have to suck it up! Deal with it!
STOP MAKING ME INTO A JOKE! IāM DONE!
Another reality we cannot accept:There is a lot going on in peopleās lives more than we can see. We donāt know what is going on under the surface. Think before you speak ill of anyone. You canāt just look at people at face value.
Another thing:This neurotypical world was never built for neurodivergent individuals as myself. It is difficult to navigate, often painful. This is why hyperfixations exist so we can have predictably in an unpredictable world.
