Of course people will make jokes about your crazy hyperfixation since you can't shut up about him and made even that fanfic between you and him (which I have to give credit to you since you have the balls for not making a character up like everyone else does) but at least have some decency to laugh at yourself for once. Sheesh, if you react like this from one joke, I can't imagine how you handle normal criticism towards you. Not everyone is against you, and nobody has something against you if they make a joke about you. And don't you dare come at me with neurodivergent and all that other stuff. I can count about 20 people I work with with the same conditions and they don't act like you do. YOU'LL deal with it like an adult should.

Okay, I’m gonna get in here right now and risk getting yelled at, because this conversation is starting to piss me off. What I wanted to say is, both sides have a point right now. On one hand, the joke about Houdini was most likely intended to be a harmless joke, not a mockery. And many people would actually find it funny if a similar joke was made about themselves. But again, you can never know what is going on in a person’s life. I’m speaking from experience here, because I used to overreact to similar stuff like, a lot. I would actually get offended at getting called a “walking encyclopedia” (which is by far the most harmless thing you can get called). I know why I did this: I used to get bullied for my special interests, so anything that reminded me of it even remotely was met with a strong reaction. But no one else knew, so eventually people even got scared of me.
I also know that it takes a lot of work to stop doing this. It’s not something you can just turn off overnight. So while the reaction may seem out of line to you, it does make sense when looked at from a certain angle. I hope this explanation actually helps and doesn’t make things worse lol.
Tl:dr: please be nice to each other, especially when you don’t know each other 🥺

This is more of a me thing but with the grand scope of my series, I dont know if I'll be able to see it through within my life time. At least, not without help or changing my process to make drawing quicker (aka cutting out inking). I dont have the skill and stamina that mangaka have, nor the focus and time

I have a harsh but oddly encouraging take.

That's no excuse to give up, you have many options. You can adjust the scope of your project to be able to finish it, you can embrace it as a hobby and make peace with not being "successful", you can save up to hire people with complementary skills you may lack, probably starting as a small team or you can dedicate more time to developing the skills you need.

Either way, the options are there, but you gotta figure out what works for you. If you want different results don't do always the same and wish you the best on whatever path you choose.

Disagree with the "looks are everything", being beautiful can cause some problems. Many years ago i dated a really hot woman, and while being beautiful had helped with her popularity , it also attracted some creeps's attention. I had to shoo away a couple of catcallers and in 2 separate occasions someone attempt to rape her. Luckilly the attempts failed for different reasons, like friends noticing in time or grabbing a broken wine bottle to defend herself and scare away the creeps. There was also some crazy news on how a rapist ran away from a house after turning the lights and seeing how ugly was his potential victim.

Beauty is a double edge weapon, it has its benefits, but also leads to dangers.

So, lookmaxing is not necessarily a good thing. You might attract people, but which people you attract is not something you can control.
