I think music genres are terrible, because it doesn't accurately tell what I like to listen to.

There are so many genres/bands I never heard of because I will almost always be recommended things that sound similar to the genre of the song I'm listening to.

I could say I like rock but I like to listen to Dance Gavin Dance, Nightwish, Neck Deep, Demon Hunter, Coheed & Cambria and others but I also like Muse, Five Iron Frenzy, Anberlin, Sara Bareilles and Carly Rae Jepsen. Then there are bands listed as JPOP that sound nothing alike like ClariS, Myth & Roid, and Silent Siren, not to mention I have some Rap & Hip Hop like Royce da 5' 9", Aesop Rock, Danny Brown and Run the Jewels.

I can't forget I sometimes enjoy things like The Fray, Rascal Flatts and Garth Brooks.
Same goes for comic genres and other forms of entertainment.

My music also has 0 bearing of what I'm drawing I usually just put it on shuffle or browse YouTube.

Same with relation with music that I'm listening now vs what I'm drawing. Sometimes a certain song fits the scene that I want to draw, but I don't necessarily have to listen to it while doing so.

I understand that. Sometimes I listen to a song and imagine it being a soundtrack or opening theme for whatever I'm making. My music I'm listening to usually matches my overall mood or how I'm feeling or want to feel.

When I'm doing work, I'm usually listening to jazz, bossa nova, Shibuya-Kei and video game OSTs. In the car, it's usually pop/R&B throughout the decades.

I really seem to have none, my tastes seem all over the place and what I like seems to based on mood. Right now, I'm listening to 70's music, mostly disco and rock.

Ah yeah, Malice Mizer! I was in love with them when I was a teen. I still like the songs but, I move on to metal. Symphonic metal. I have always liked antique music, Gregorian, Classical, and Middle ages and folklore. Basically, it has to be heavenly music or devilish. XD ( reggae, banda and current pop are big "hell no!" for me. )

i like jrock, not so much visual kei, but i love my JP indie bands. Some kpop too.
My fave right now is chillhop and/or lo-fi tunes.

To be honest, I tend to just stick to music that I know. I don't really go exploring or search for vastly different genres. I generally enjoy upbeat, pop sounds (and that extends to some of the music I've already mentioned above).

I have an eclectic taste, but it mostly under the umbrella of rock.
like: queen, ac/dc, fallout boy, rush, aerosmith, and a few songs from other bands like muse, black sabbath, the who, scorpions, twisted sister, etc
like certain anime opening: sisero days, Don't Lose Your Way, number one, narutu's themes, Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi second cour.theme, etc

I'm not sure if I have one since my taste draws from such a wide range but the genres I listen to the most are Post-Punk, Synth-Pop, Rap and EDM. All very different stuff but I dunno, I like it all. A little but of Metal-Core here and there too.
