I know you said that your manga is based off a videogame but I can see a lot of the 80s sci-fi movie influence that came out as a response to the Star Wars craze.

Here is mine.

It loses that vibe later though. Only this one part of the world really has that vibe.

I'm aware of all you just mentioned. It... was the first of many comics that look exactly the same.

(I deleted my original comment because I didn't reply to anyone)

It seems like you were inspired by Steven Universe, RWBY, Avatar the Last Airbender, Miraculous Ladybug, My Hero Academia, Mystery Incorporated, and Voltron Legendary Defender. Obviously a those are all given since it's a huge crossover story, so I'll just throw in Harry Potter, Undertale, and maybe Smash Bros (because of the crossover stuff).

@WoollyPAR

Art wise Cat Club reminds me of Danganronpa mixed with ONE's art style. Main character's hairstyle remind me of Jolyne and Ibuki.
The storytelling is comedic and a bit flashy, I cannot point out what particular influence but damn JoJo pose at the beginning.

No right answer here. In fact I am still wondering. It is a novel and if you are too lazy to read just look at the cover art and description.

I've played the first Danganronpa game, I liked it a lot. I really love One Punch Man, can't say it was a huge influence, but it probably had some kind affect on my story telling decisions and art. Really hit the nail on the head with JoJo tho. It inspired me to start drawing more and make comics.

I also got inspiration from Spider-Man and a few other things, but JoJo is the big one

Your story gives me a vibe similar to the book "666-the number of the beast", my first horror read.

I really think you were inspired by one shot horrors (though you did mention you didn't mean it to be a horror).

Since I'm already following it, I'll move on to the one above yours.

Story above above mine: Cat club @WoollyPAR
Gave me a Spiderman Catwoman fusion vibe. :smile_cat: Were you inspired by tropes involving transformation from a bite?

My story:

OMG I WAS RIGHT

With the reality tv allusions, dystopia and such, I'm guessing something like Hunger Games meets WWE? Maybe with some pokemon thrown?

Here's mine. Though it's pretty flippin' obvious what inspired it.

Actually, a LOT of things inspired it, aside from the thing literally referenced in the series description. Bonus points to anybody who can name one!

@EmmyPax Hmm, I'm gonna say it's inspired by farming/dating simulators like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon? I love the artstyle btw it's beautiful.

Here is mine. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks the inspiration is!

I develop TV ideas, mainly game shows. And I started to parody them in the challenges the characters face. And to exaggerate what's happening in the country as well, and it basically turned into a film idea which I then wrote out as a story.

Okay. Good luck.

I'd suggest reading the main thread carefully before posting to avoid missing out on the topic next time.

You're right on the money with Star Wars, thats one of the bigger inspirations for sure! As for the video game, that was actually a game I developed myself when I was 13. I really need to rewrite that blurb to clarify that better :joy: Your novel reminds me of a bunch of different things with the fantasy/technology mix. I get big Nier/Drakengard and some Devil May Cry vibes

I'm guessing the inspirations were: MIB, Aijin and Generator Rex. The last part being about the people transforming into monsters. I do like the premise though.
