When did you get into making comics?

I got into making comics when I was about 14, they were terrible, like really really aweful. they just side views of characters in a 4 x 2 panel the speech bubbles were all over the place with arrows point to them, on paper and I thought they were so epic that i was making my own stories, I never wrote them out or scripted them, or ...anything i just drew them, I remember there was a point where, nothing made any sense because i was going all over the place with the story one minute there would be a magic girl next there would be like demon slayers and serial killers. and on top of that i had so many, that i wanted to do...there were so many started and unfinished ones just because i forgot the, already obscure plot. it's funny when i look back at the old stuff. I look the one i have now, and i just wish my past self could see how far she got....she'd be in disbelief. I even remember the names of the ones I worked on the most, Cherry Blossoms, Copper Heads, and Jewels of Eden. and you know what if i ever get the time I want to revisit my awful little teenage years stories. what about you guys?

I started webcomics a little more than a year ago, however there was a time when I made one as a kid.
It was called spider dog.
I did not know how to draw dogs. Or spiders. What was I doing?

Just now. I see comics as the base of what I actually want to do, which is scripting and making games, but I need to get down the gist of storytelling first.

I started making comics my second year in college! (I'm 24 now, so I've been at it for about 3-4 years?) I realized I wanted to add visuals to my storytelling and bring my stuff to life in a different way. My first comic was a space opera that wound up falling through. Don't do a space opera for your first comic. Haha.

Well I first started drawing my own stories when I was like 7. Didn't do comics really until I was 14. Didn't do real comics that I published until I was 24.

hahah i think the one i have right now is a space opera XD, but my actual very first comic i put out there was a romance and i just lost interest lol

I started making comics when I was around 9 or 10 -- very simple stuff, just like you described your first comics, hah^^ When I got into junior high, I started doing little gag strips for the school newspaper (mostly jokes appropriated from tv, oh my oh my) and that stuck with me all the way through high school. Nothing was story-driven until I graduated and got into college. Then, when I was 19, I decided to try and take on a larger project based on what I'm currently doing right now, 10 years later! I've had lots of smaller comic projects in the meantime (just a couple self-published) and now I'm focusing on two of my favourite stories, it's awesome!

Mine was kind of weird. I really never expected to make comics. I had always started so many ideas, just to draw the cover, start the 1st page, and then throw it away, and that happened over and over, plus, with me being a person that doesn't really care for long term projects, I thought comics wasn't really a place for me. With my current comic, I decided that I would just draw an intro to test my skills and see how it went... but... I ended up really liking it, and now I just keep rolling with it

And man, I hope you get to revisit your teenage years stories -- those things can surprisingly refreshing! You've touched on so many other cool stories, I bet your unfinished ones have heaps of potential.

i think the first comics i drew might have been in elementary school; a small paper-fold book in which i drew stick-figure strips that made fun of the class boys... surprisingly, i didn't become their #1 enemy (likely cuz my response to them saying "what if we drew stuff like that abt u!" was "ok" but idr).

back then, i was thinking i was gonna be a writer... tho even then not having an illustration on each page was unthinkable. and at one point i started making a PPG fancomic (4th grade? 5th grade? younger?? no clue...), which i have since lost :'/

i attempted a webcomic in 2008 as a test-run but stopped 20pages in while also doing a pokémon sketch-comic on the side. tbh i have no clue where/how i learned to make them cuz i dont feel like i've drawn a lot of them;;;

at this point, i've done misc gag strips in fandoms and RP groups... and now i'm attempting a webcomic again. university pressures are getting in the way though.

Well my current (second) comic is a fantasy epic, so I clearly never learned my lesson haha! I just can't seem to write short things. I start out, and then elaborate way too much and things blow out of proportion.

Oh man...I got into comics the minute I was able to pick up a pencil and draw(very young). I would spend hours drawing my own little comic books patterned after super hero rip off characters- I could fold sheets of drawing paper & and draw & color them. Then I started drawing 8 page comics on larger sheets of notebook paper when I got in middle school & high school. I finally started drawing at professional comic book size when I started going to art school- it was kind of a pain , coz my art style was transitioning and I didnt get comfortable drawing on a large scale until I learned the trick of the trade from a comic book pro(which was doing thumbnails on a small scale, then blowing them up and lightboxing it on a larger size). I even moved away from using regular pencils to using non-photo blue pencil(which I could ink over and DIDNT have to erase the pencil coz it wouldnt show on a copier or scanner). That's been my technique- pretty much until I got an itch to try out digital rendering; now I'm going that route.

I got into making comics about 4 or 5 years ago. I was at Comic Con, and I just realized how much I wanted to be a part of the producing side of all of it. I couldn't draw (yes, I know, I can learn, but it was never a passion). But I could write! So I wrote three test scripts (among a lot of other stuff). The first one was... yeah. It wasn't good. The second one was better, but pretty shaky. The third one got finished and drawn, but it was full of so many of my weirder ideas that it was hard to explain. But my latest comic has come out exactly the way I was hoping it would! Its been a fun journey, all and all.

I got into making them seriously when I was 18. I had doodled a few here and there before, but they were just scribbles. I was very inspired by Ailene and Paperseverywhere on tumblr, and about 2 years ago I made a short comic based on DMMD. It was by far the most successful thing that I had ever made, so I basically spent that summer pumping out comics. Late that year I got the idea for what is my current comic, ElectroMania. Originally I was going to make it a novel, but I thought I should try combining my abilities to draw and write. So far I'm having fun with making my own series >o<)9

Been drawing comics my whole life. LoaA is my first digital comic. The most strips I ever drew for any one comic would be 200 something. The most chapters I've drawn for any one comic would be three and a half.

I started making comics when I was 9 or 10. I actually remember the first one I made was about safety rules and showing the consequences of not following them (why I did that is beyond me) the first of those being about not handing someone scissors by the blade and the other guy getting his hand chopped off. I also remember throwing it away moments later (which is a bad habit I'm still trying to break).

But I didn't really get into making comics until three years ago I started working on a story called "Subconscious" which became "Insert_Epic_Title_Here" which again became "Subconscious" and is now called "Li" (the plot has been edited a whoooole lot)
(my current series "Life of a Homeschooler" happened between the first two renditions about a year ago)

I drew my first illustrated story when I was 7 - but then there was a big gap, during which I thought I'd grow up to write prose and novels and stuff, and I didn't draw a proper comic until I was 16. I was always drawing, but not drawing comics.

The story I made when I was 7 was a weirdo bromance between trolls. The comic I made when I was 16 was a terrible webcomic of which we shall not speak because it is incredibly poorly plotted and badly written - but I took what lessons I learned from that and moved on to other projects.

Time I got into making webcomics- More than a year (it will be 2 years ago as of August this year)
Time I got into making any form of illustrated story: About 6 years ago, when I made a storybook which I donated to the middle school library that I used to go to. That storybook is an early adaptation of a comic series I have that's actually going to be rebooted again sometime this year, Legend of John the Parakeet.
Except I wouldn't be the one drawing it, my girlfriend will be (she told me she wanted to help me with it).
I'd be in charge of the scripting.
