When is too late for an update?

I'd really love to keep a strict weekly schedule but I don't have all the time in the world so I kinda went with every other week but sometimes I go maybe 2 or 3 days late because some pages are just uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Also, I have no editor so I wanna spend more time reviewing what I did... especially now since a couple of readers pointed out typos i didn't notice.

Lol sometimes i fear I'll just lose like 100 subscribers in one go for not updating.

Nah, I still gain/retain subs even when on hiatus or during skipped updates, heck, even on a completed comic.

The time I lose subs is when I update.

like how many? that's kinda scary... I'm thinking of extremes like 10-20% of subs every update rofl... I mean, I'm sure I won't unless my update is just... batshit crazy with no sense..

Looking at my webnovel (since it's my newest series and has the smallest numbers I can easily glance at), I'd say I lose at most 4 or 5 with any given update, but it's negated with new subscribers.

I don’t even bother with a set schedule lol. For the most part I tend to get a chapter up every other week but if I don’t, it honestly isn’t a big deal. I’d say just do whatever works for you. Most people will understand that you have a life outside of your story and will post when you can.

Consistency and quality are both important and people will wait longer for something of quality so itf you need just give yourself more time between updates to stay consistent.

I feel like the longer the wait between updates, I usually forget when the comic is intended to update anyway as a reader. If it's a super-huge high-quality art, then it's usually worth the stay in my book, disregarding how long it took to come out.

I took a month off after I released enough content for two comic books. After a couple of conventions and some new character designs, I'm starting back up and will have new updates in a couple of weeks.

I'm hoping fans will be kind.

My readers said that they read the comic when they see that there is an update, regardless of the day of the week, like they don't even know the exact day I update XD. This month I have skipped one week and made longer updates the next. I barely lost 1 sub.
I don't think readers are like, "No Monday update??!! UNSUB!!!" But I do think they start unsubbing when the quality is dropping.

I don't think there's any rules about updating but I always feel responsible to update on-time and never late, if I'm late I'm going to tell them about it first. If I know that I won't be able to update frequently I'm going to say it ahead of time, but if I say I'll update every Wednesday then I'm going to make sure I update every Wednesday.

I try to have chapters scheduled to give myself some lag instead of feeling like I am rushed.

I agree with the others; being a couple days late is nothing and I've never had anyone unsubscribing for that. Personally, I try to update every weekend, but since my comic has chapters that need to be drafted first, I've had multiple-week hiatuses in between chapters and nobody seemed to mind. It's just dormant during that time. If you're doubtful, explain the delay in the comment when posting the update; all the readers I've seen so far have been quite understanding!

You don't lose subs if you are late, better to be late and come out with great work.
You can try to be more episodes ahead.
I always 2 episodes ahead if something happens. That why my next series first will be released in November.
