Can you tell of what you saw in that anime that brought you through a emotional metamorphosis?

Many different anime had a huge impact on me but the biggest one was Dragonball Z, when all the other Z-fighters were either killed or beaten up my Nappa and all hope seemed loss, Goku just shows up in a majestic way on his flying nimbus. He beats Nappa and then faces off against Vegeta in an epic fight. Seeing all of that brought me through a metamorphosis

It had a huge impact on me because it was the first anime movie that I watched as a kid
in the late 70s. I think it influenced my brother and me a lot, we can both still imitade their
facial expressions. One of the main characters has my first name.

I never really got into the whole anime genre, some of it is too exaggerated for me or
I´m just too much influenced by european / american aesthetics/culture to like it or there isn´t
enough anime series for my age group. But recent anime series that I liked were Death Note, it didn´t
matter if it was anime, real series or any other media, the story was really captivating. I would like to
check out more anime which is directed to an adult audience

Elfen Lied made an impact on me for an unusual reason. There was one time in uni I had a really bad cold/flu, and with nothing to do while I was home sick, I decided to watch Elfen Lied.

I don't know why I thought it was a good idea, but watching 13 episodes' worth of violent scenes and mindf*cks in one sitting, while having a bad fever, has managed to sear this experience into my brain. It was kinda surreal.

Now anytime I think of the last time I had a flu, this memory will always come up, even though I have fallen sick at other times. Also, the anime opening is great.

Cardcaptor Sakura blew my mind right open as a teenager (even the rather butchered dubbed version called "Cardcaptors" I saw first).

The very concept that an unashamedly cute and girly show could have these high stakes action sequences with absolutely incredible animation was wild when I'd grown up used to the idea that animated shows for girls, like Maxi's World, were generally poorly animated due to being given less budget and resources, and tended to have very low stakes like "Oh no! We might miss the concert!" was so exciting for me.

Plus the way it's so casual about queer relationships and identities. It just rolls on up with a bunch of characters being bi or gay, and it's so present throughout that it couldn't really all be edited out, no matter how hard the American censors tried. It has a really "some people are bi, deal with it" energy that really opened my eyes to how LGBTQ+ characters could be more than stereotypes defined by that identity, and even just the idea that yeah, you can have gay people in a kids' show and it's only weird if you make it weird.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I mean, TTGL was mind-blowing. It dragged me, an amorphous lazy creature through half a year of hourly everyday exercises and strict diet when I was at my worst, at the place I almost hated at the time, with terrible attitude. It is one of my absolute anime idols, makes me want to live every damn time.

Mushi-Shi, it was a comfort show while I was in a pretty dark place. It helped bring my attention to the beauty of nature and relishing those small quiet moments.

I see I'm not the first, but yeah, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, 100%! The style, the energy, the batshit awesomeness. Its overall spirit inspired me throughout my teenage years, and Gainax/Trigger style of epic hyperboles definitely stuck with me till this day.

The anime that did that to me was Re:zero, showing a person struggle so much but still doing the most to provide safety and comfort to his loved ones made me do the same, it also has many other themes such us forgiveness, loneliness and many more, it also helped me through a hard time in my life so for me it will forever be a 10

To be honest, there are actually two of them that made a huge impact on me. The first one was Parasyte, since it, for the first time in my life, introduced me to the concept of anime and how limitless anime is. The second one was Makoto Shinkai's Tenki no Ko, which made me a true anime fan and inspired me a lot to make stuff of my own.

Many anime have had a big impact on me like Naruto, Fullmetal alchemist, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, Violet Evergarden, Hyouka and your lie in april. Also Gurren Lagann but I haven't finished it yet, but the one that has had the biggest impact is Jujutsu Kaisen. I have never so been hyped for an anime for this long, to the point that I couldn't wait any longer so I read the manga and yet I still can't get enough of it. Everything about the story, from the characters to the world to the philosophies to every flipped detail in the story is just amazing to me. This story has taken me on a rollercoaster of emotions which I truly love. I doubt any other anime will have such an impact on me like Jujutsu Kaisen but there's still so many anime out there so who knows, maybe I will experience something better​

Hands down, Saint Seiya. Used to watch it all the time when I was little because my brothers are much older than me and loved the show. I watched little kids shows too, but Saint Seiya was special because it told such a good story that was bigger than what other shows for kids my age were doing. The show had everything, epic battles, friendship, sacrifice, drama. I grew up wanting to tell stories that hit those notes, the kind of stories that makes you feel and root for the characters. Saint Seiya had some pretty tragic backstories and I think that also made me enjoy writing characters that are damaged in some way. I still love the show, and I still love the story it told even if it wasn't perfect. It's also interesting to hear it inspired some other more famous shounen titles.

There were a bunch of other shows that influenced me as a kid, like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Inuyasha, Digimon, Sailor Moon, but Saint Seiya really started my love of storytelling.

Mostly magical girl shows. Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Ojamajo Doremi, PPGZ and Pretty Cure had such a huge impact on me growing up. I named my 1st Barbie doll, Sakura, had my dolls "transform" like Sailor Moon, made Ojamajo Doremi fanfic spinoffs, and a bunch of one off magical girl OCs.

I know the genre is unpopular and I haven't watched PreCure since 2017, but I still have dreams of making my own magical girl series
