Which Genre do you specialize in?

Slice of life romcoms! And fantasy comedy sometimes. Saccharine, corny luuuuv and "life happens" is my thing.
On the flipside I can't do "serious" fantasy or horror. I'm too silly to write something grimdark (which is everywhere, kind of like skinny jeans). I also don't really do well with scifi, I've found it needs much more detailed art than I have the time and commitment for. Fighting and sports stories are also so far out of my interest orbit they might as well be Pluto, so none of that as well.

Sci-fi! Most definitely sci-fi. And maybe comedy. That's pretty much all I've been exposed to since my childhood. So much Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Calvin and Hobbes, and other weekly comic strips :3 I love letting my mind leave this world, and exploring all the things that people haven't thought of yet ^u^ b

I really struggle with slice of life tho. I really find it hard to think of things that normal people experience, and write a story around it. I hate real life drama, and so it's really hard to incorporate that into stories because I've distanced it from myself so much XD

Someone the forum said not to try to hard with making the joke funny. That what I do with my parody comic Seishin Patona Parade, I just drew what I thought was funny.

Action is a genre I worked for as long as I have been a comic artist however, mysteries I haven't really meddled in.

Action is my forte I am your opposite. Slice of Life, Romance and Comedy I have little experience in. If I were to ever do a romance I would do a dramatic romance because I am more of a serious person.

Sci-fi x fantasy, I like to create things that aren't very realistic.

Sci-Fi I add a touch of it to my comic Seishin Patona where one side of the world is futuristic while the other side modeled off feudal Japan. As far as including real life drama just thing of as problems your characters face. For example your character killed his first person and he is grief stricken. Even though this is something that is rare in real life the emotions are real.

I don't use such cliche as "genres". I try to create interesting and complex story thats all rules

people tell me im good at horror even tho i consider myself good in these two genres: Dark Fantasy and Romance.
Honestly nothing of what i do is actually horror

I dont have one genre that really mess me up but if i had to say i would say comedy

If I had to pinpoint a genre I specialize in I guess I would say an action comic. I think my comic has elements of many different genres like action, adventure, fantasy, science fiction, or even sci-fi. Luckily, Tapastic only specifies two types for a comic so I can just click two and move on with my life.

I seem to work with horror and just freakin' deep dark drama the best. I'm not sure why that is...it just seems to flow the most naturally from me. I'm not even a sad or angry person. XD Maybe what weirdness I do have just likes to come out in writing/comic form.

I do have my moments with comedy though, but it seems like for some strange reason I work with comedy better when it's not my own story. Writing a comedy story from scratch has always been something of a challenge to me.

Action, adventure, fantasy, sci-fi....I haven't really tried much of in a very serious form, but I think I'm kind of hit and miss in those areas. I tend to overthink sci-fi and fantasy.....and action scenes...well, I may picture something awesome, but I have a hard time drawing it out. =\

Roughly, I'd have to say I write horror comedy. Having to pick one genre, I went with horror, reasoning that people searching "horror" would more likely want to see my stuff than any random person doing a "comedy" search. That's too wide a net to cast for something with this much dark humor and violence..

In practice, I haven't kept to any one genre consistently for more than a book. All have elements of horror and comedy but some lean more heavily into action or fantasy territory and there's a bit of science fiction spread throughout. I like trying out everything so I tried to build a world where I could get away with that.

So "horror" is just a practical label.

Comedy is a tricky genre you, you as the artist has to think its funny before anyone else does.

Forte is my weakness, I am good with making action scenes I am not good at scaring the reading or drama. I would consider making a dramatic romance one day so I can see how its like.

I believe a story doesn't have to stick with one genre. It's just the base ingredient to your story then you add the other ingredient and see which ones you like and the other ones you don't like.

Heh, variety is the spice of life! It would be boring if everyone liked and did the same thing, after all.

I suppose the genre I fit into best is historical drama, but there's generally an element of mystery and horror to them...and some dark comedy thrown in.

Sounds like you work on some pretty dramatic stuff keeping the reader at the edge their seat.
