My character inspiration for Shot was basically all the classic tropes, and then trying to throw them on their heads. The detective character isn't cold or heartless or arrogant, the gruff soldier/tank is a softhearted teddy bear, the classic father figure is an open-minded guy. Physically, I usually start off on one or two celebrities or existing characters and build from there, and I usually avoid getting into too much detail when describing them.
Oooooooo snaps. So Sophie, my chara from The Monster Princess, was inspired by this man.
He is Lucas from Who Made Me a Princess and honestly, I love how snooty and stuck up and amazing he is. But also how he has this really layered past
My boy, simply named "The Pirate", is heavily inspired by Eren Jaeger. Freedom is at the core of what The Pirate is and stops at nothing to attain what he believes to be true freedom. I find Eren's craving for freedom to be really admirable and made me want to explore my own yearning for it with a character if my own and thus, The Pirate was born.

Originally, Cozmata was made to be a child for a story I was making set in post apocalyptic Brazil.
She would be a kid living in a town made inside an airport, and would've had a mom who was a mechanic and fell in love with a mercenary. She would keep trying to put them two together.
Her personality would be bubbly and cute, based on Mabel from Gravity Falls and Hilda from Hildafolk.
This was around 2016. I then tried writing a first chapter for this story, but at the time i was terrible in pre-planning. So after failing in writing a first chapter I came to two logical conclusions:
1. I didn't know what I wanted to do with these characters
2. I had no real story ideas.
That's why I decided to make a new world, this time CENTERED around these characters. I made a revamp of their designs, thought up of a story direction, a theme, and voila.
So yeah, Cozmata was based on a previous version of her, Hilda and Mabel!
Also, here's the current design for comparison reasons:
A lot of my characters are inspired by real people. Often times, I'll design my characters before I develop character traits. My characters traits will change over time according to what I watch, who I see, and what I listen to.
Jong-ho (one of the protagonists) was based off of Chris McCandless (go read Into The Wild it's a good book). He's smart and a deep thinker, but arrogant and thinks he knows everything. He helps a lot of people, but also hurts others without knowing.
Jung, Jong-ho's older brother was based off of myself. We both have a stutter, we're socially awkward, we're deep thinkers, and we procrastinate a lot. We also don't belong in society.
Just recently, I discovered Elliott Smith's music and I was like "holy cow! This guy is so much like Jung", so there's a bit (actually a lot) of Smith in Jung. The way Jung talks, and forms relationships with people as well as sings mirrors Smith (Jung's a musician). Jung is also inspired by Beck (another one of my favorite musicians) so a lot of what he says doesn't make sense, he also tends to dress in 90's clothes, and has an indie rock style.
Bora was based off of Kumatetsu, the bear man from The Boy and The Beast a drunk, a martial artist, selfish, moody, and funny person who gets frustrated when things don't go her way. She's also a version of myself that I wish I was. Strong, and brave. Like me, she can bounce back easily.
I have always been majorly inspired by music videos, starting in the 90's. Nirvana, NIN, Ret Hot chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Cranberries, White Zombie and Korn just to name a few.
I didn't draw in their likeness but rather just aesthetically and emotionally. Half my current characters are from the early 2,000's or earlier.
In my main comic, I based my main characters on my health issues, Luna was based off of a medical condition that I had for a couple years that could have killed me off, but based on my experiences, instead of moping about my medical condition I decided to write a story about it and it sort of developed into a character, the main character in my current comic named Luna...
after a few years working on Luna with scripts and dialogue, I decided to come up with another character but this time on my mental health which includes depression, anxiety, fear, etc, and that developed into a character named Vincent, who is a complement to Luna within the story as it goes on, other characters that I created in other stories were based off of people I’ve met and some songs as well as some tv shows that I used to watch as a kid...
I never felt sorry for myself and as time went by but as I created these characters I felt that I was sharing a bit of myself ,as well as my journey of living with this medical condition, to the world!
For my novel Jade Kingdoms I pulled inspiration from my own life and I wanted to have characters that made me happy when I look upon them, yet have many metaphors hidden in their design to show what kind of role they will play.
I think seeing the lore from vast games, series and movies helped me flesh them out in design too, and I wanted them to look simple, yet carry so much depth. Jade Kingdoms is all about the metaphors too haha.
Here are some of the main characters:
>My inspiration for some of my main characters Myriam, Sylvie, Christine (aka Chrissy) and Lindsay is not that interesting sadly. It came with a mixture of these four things:
- My obsession with Sailor Moon at the time.
- Having lunch with my friends in High School and thinking how they were an interesting bunch. (Characters are loosely based off of them).
- My fascination with the weather.
- Thinking how cool it would be if we had super powers.
Probably all other media I consume. I just don't really know where exactly, because most of my stories come to me in dreams and random strokes. They're mostly vague notions about my characters, kinda like stereotypes, but more complex and unique. Then I start guessing other parts of their life, personnality, how they life. For me nothing is set in stone untill I'm forced to by uploading.
For my series Crow's Worth.
Crow is sort of an anti-Kakashi (from Naruto). As a teen, I was sort of annoyed by some of the Mary Sue qualities of the character and wanted to make a version of him who was dumb and clumsy. However Crow's anxiety and eating disorder is pulled from stuff I struggled with as a teen.
Miss however, I don't remember. I think in someways I wanted a female character who wasn't a love interest or a cheerleader to the male mc. I also wanted a type of butch female character that I rarely saw in media.
