Hmm, there's a lot of things that inspired Fallacy
Big part of it is due to my love for mythology and fantasy.
After all, I'm using a lot of aspects from Norse mythology in it. And fantasy as a genre has always been the one that fascinates me the most. It has such unlimited possibilities. At the same time because I have read so much fantasy stories I had gotten a bit sick of seeing the same patterns repeat time after time after time, even if I still appreciate them at the same time when executed well.
So when I read Patrick Rothfuss' book The Name of The Wind while in high school it made a huge impact with me as it doesn't follow the "save the world, sword & sorcery style" plot, has huge wealth of character growth/complexity and has multiple plots running simultaneously yet always connected. Basically, it showed me what kind of a story (as in technical aspects) I'd love to create.
I was also inspired by the idea of creating a story that does have antagonists and hugely flawed people but no actual evil villains. I just wanted to make something with people pursuing their own goals and clashing because of it.
While I can't really identify other clear sources atm, I know that I've definitely smashed facets of the huge amount of literature I've read, shows I've seen and comics/manga I've read. And music. It works really well for giving me inspiration for characters.
