Ok, turns out if I ctrl+shift+paste ("remove font style" doesn't work for this), it resets the text box to the default styles, which at least lets me get them all to the larger size which is ok.

Ah yeah, ctrl+shift+v isn't an option either, it's the same as "remove font style" and strips everything.
