I feel yeah there, I'm doing some light Fantasy stuff, and I find pure romance to be pretty boring so it's impossible for me to write it.
I tend to like romance mixed with other genres. E.g. My last writer's camp entry ELINA is a romance in a fantasy setting with a witch and witch hunter twist. I usually find straight-up romances a bit boring. I need that extra 'lil something to spice things up
welp, reading this thread I realize i'm also in the minority once i join the writer's camp since my story is middle-grade level horror fantasy with little kids as protagonist. LOL. Not expecting any wins; just a good way for me to force myself to write & improve

The first chapter is the prologue, which I'm thinking of eliminating since it's unclear how it fits the rest of the plot so far.Thank you so much!
I used to participate in NaNoWriMo every year. I got pretty busy with life so I stopped doing the challenge.. now that this is happening and I've been wanting to write again I'm VERY EXCITED to participate ! I have a story that's been on the back burner for ages simply because I haven't had the time.. But I think I can squeeze it in and FINALLY get it out there.

It's good to know there's a few of us not doing BL; it increases our odds, haha. Your story sounds different and interesting; mine's gonna be a dark fantasy about a guy with an evil heritage raised in captivity in an attempt to make sure that heritage doesn't manifest. I will forever have an interest in bad genes and bad biology~!
I wonder if I should, or if I even have the time. I'd love to participate, but I'm not sure of my skills... if I'll do it I'd love to at least have a competitive level...
