The plagiarism. It seems to be done by young members. Just found one of cassandra's slice of life comic strips and explained to the poster the problem. Wish it didn't happen so often

saw it with theodd1sout aswell actually, now that you mention it

In addition to what everyone else has said, not tracking specific daily stats in real time is a pain.

@bakasama25 @denaliah This bugs me as well. Regardless of quality, these guys really don't belong on a platform built by independent artists and writers. The worst part is seeing the over-excited comments about how WT is "stepping up their game" or "becoming the next Marvel" with these big names. Geez, build your own website if your name draws that much attention.

I actually don't see bringing in big names as that bad. Although it is somewhat annoying that they are passing up indie creators, having a few big names on the website could bring in new readers and traffic to the platform as a whole which could translate to more readership for indie creators.

But it's a bit of a gamble, in the sense that the cost to bring in these big names may not generate the numbers they want. (I can only assume Stan Lee costs more than some rando off discover). And in some ways it is alienating their current demographic of readers. So we'll see where it goes.

I wish there was a way to communicate/put announcements out better? Sometimes like when you'll be late for an episode, or you have a question/announcement or something for readers. IDK, there's just times I wish I could put out a small posting, without having to create an episode about it or something. I end up just sharing things to my instagram and discord, but that has only a small percent of my audience.

I've heard that some ex-Marvel people became editors on there and I've seen the Japanese and Chinese versions of LINE Webtoons. LINE Webtoons in America feels more "Western" than those sisters sites. It just seems like there's going to be less translated Korean webtoons from now on. I suppose it might not be a huge loss since the official translations of those are kind of meh.

i just don't like the fact there is no way for me to tell ppl i'm disappearing. aside from putting it at the end of the comic. feels like an ad to me. there is no interaction with fans and that bugs me. ... i don't have many but i some and i love them all. lol

How they seem to only promote the same discovery comics in the same sections. They may change the comics after a couple weeks, but then they promote the same again for the X times weeks after

Kinda bumed to see how underated comics are getting buried everyday, there are so many I follow that never get promoted by LN, and they are making comics much more time than I

Yeah that's annoying for readers too IMO. As a reader I don't bother looking at the recs because they're always the same.

Couldn’t agree more on your 3rd point. A lot of them are clueless of what is happening in the story when there is no shippy parts.

Right now- response time from the Webtoon staff. It's HORRIBLE.

I always hated that you can't schedule comic posts. You can save them for later, but then you have to access the website in order to post them. Drives me nuts!

One of the annoying thing webtoon does is they don't let comics in discover have big beautiful banner in their own story section. Many of the people I know prefer the comics in discover (of course it's a question of taste). Webtoon knows there are very good comics in discover so they don't want discover to be more appealing and outshine their featured comics. That's probably the reason they only give the authors in discover a little square or round avatar, that's it. They should do like in tapas. At least let the authors in discover have some more customization and larger banner on their story board so they can have a chance to attract more readers.

I don't get notified when someone comments or subscribes. I can't see my subscribers. I don't have a public profile. It makes it hard to interact with my readers. I really hope they add these features. :frowning:

Sadly, the mainstream comics arent getting much attention because there's no shipping (sad, but nessary to get your comic noticed,) and the style is wildly different. I love sound of your heart, but no one reads it due to the style. Art style is so important on webtoon that if you change it you will get a flood of comments asking about it. It's horrible.

I literally just joined on there as well as here, and the first thing to bug me is JPG. Seriously? Jpg quality is crap. And reading here I learned that apparently you get no notifications for comments and stuff. That just sucks??

I'm gonna summarize the stuff that annoys me, but also add some features that I wish were added to the site~

  • Anonymous readers. Unlike here in Tapas where you can visit the profile of your subscribers and commenters and see a bunch of comics they're following, their recent comments, etc.

  • Limited details about figures (hearts, subs, page views, ratings) It'd be cool if they also have like a flag counter where you can see the breakdown of which countries (other than US PV) viewed your comic. And for ratings, at least the number of people who actually rated.

  • No delete or hide button for comments (if not completely delete, at least hide it from a person who doesn't want to see it). Also a Block button esp for harassers.

  • Notification of new comments, replies, etc.

  • I also wish they have a DM feature~ Tho this could be a bit troublesome esp with spammers, trolls, and harassers, but it's still helpful for those who want to contact you but don't have accts on the social media platforms you're on.

  • jpg, and splicing. Wish they allow other img formats, and not require us to splice long pages.
