Advertising should not feel like blatant advertising. And the worst thing you can do is to look desperate. There is a moment and place to advertise. nobody likes a door to door salesman.

Haha, yeah, it seemed obvious not to do it at first but it happened so often i started to think it was somehow normal, i'm new to the site and i really didn't know if it was something users just did here. Glad to know that's not the case.

I nearly did that a few weeks back. I was working on my pages and just posted the cover page. But I decided to delete that entry and just wait until I have a good buffer. XD

Great advice! I hope to up my subscribers and be able to share my comic with more and more people everyday!! Thanks for posting!!

wow there are so many great artist on this sight, my work is okay but my story is phenomenal please give it a read its called Divine Emissaries

Thanks. It appears there was just a interruption. 2 hours later it automatically seemed.

I started my Novel yesterday and posted the first chapter in two segments. Do you guys think I should have started with smaller portions or it is just fine to give readers something that they can create a picture with even if it is a bit longer?

Thanks that was really helpful and nice of you to post stuff for us newbies!

Thank you for this, it's really helpful. my own comic is this on progress and I can't start it yet, but I am trying to find good advise from others to be ready when the day comes. I am new in the forums too, so it's really hard to try and be active because I am so nervous XD

This topic is so useful! Thank you for this!
I have been writing a novel for a while already, and when I found this site, I just decided I had to post it here! I need to set up some things first before I do so, but I most certainly will!

I'm just starting out on a new series of short stories, I've been sceptical about starting out but you've made a great post for new creators such as myself

for someone who's about to do a comic strip series about bugs, i fear that many of my jokes might fall over people's heads unless i try explain it in the comments or description. how can prevent that from happening.

I know this is geared more toward comics than novels but I think there is real solid advice here for novel writers too! Thank you for taking the time to leave this information for us!

The prospect of writing a comic or a novel is enormous! It's helpful to have something available to get people started on a good positive note! :smile_cat:

i'll keep in mind of this, when i start, one question if the ones that do get featured are the ones that already have a following would you recommend starting on something like tumblr first?
