I’m writing a Houdini fanfiction inspired by the Night At The Museum Movies. Where I’m a security guard and I open a magic milk can where everything comes to life. Would it be too weird?

Sketching on it is already underway.

I will be bitterly disappointed if you don't!

There are plenty of fanfics out there, some tasteful and some not. I wouldn't sweat it.

You can post fanfics as long as ad revenue is turned off. Unfortunately, they have yet to add an option to turn it off for one series.

As long as you aren't using copyrighted characters or building off the same plot (same premise, location, cast of characters, etc.) - I'd just consider it regular fiction

So what I mean is is that if you use Houdini or any other real historical person, you are allowed to use them as characters in your story as long as your character is based off history and not inspired by someone else's interpretation. So your fic could definitely be inspired by Night at the Museum but as long as it's original to you (doesn't matter if you reference real historical people), it's fiction not fan fiction.

Being inspired by a historical person isn't fanfiction. It's being inspired by a copyrighted work like Night of the Museum that makes it fanfic.

I think of books like Houdini: The Handcuff King, which is categorized as historical fiction.

Right. I’m gonna write it. I don’t care. You guys are going to like it and it’s going to be hilarious!

UPDATE:
Just finished all the thumbnail sketches for the comic. I think it’s pretty cute!
