Changing drawing style in the middle of a webcomic

Do you think changing the style of a webcomic while it is already started is bad ? I changed the style of mine (first page vs fifth page) because I did not have enough time to keep the first one, and ended up drawing very dull pages. I believe the new style is also temporary, because I am learning as I work on this webcomic.

I'm pretty new to this so am probably not the right person to be giving advice but i think that it looks good! Both styles are fairly similar so it isn't a massive jump and you should worry about it, I like both pages and i think it is natural for your drawing style to change through out.

It's not bad at all! In fact it's normal and expected. Even artists who've been drawing for years will adapt and grow as their skills and experience making comics increases. I like the clearer colors in the new page style. You're experimenting with panel layouts which will really up your comic game, so to speak, as you continue to progress. And if your style continues to change, there's no reason to be worried, hopefully it will continue change for the better! Good luck!

I don't think it's necessarily bad, especially if the new style shows improvement. I do a comedy webcomic and I've been changing my style repeatedly as I learn digital drawing. Though the "rules" might be a little different for your style of comic.

The beauty of webcomics or comics in general is its pretty cool when this happens. (also happens in long running cartoons)

Normally its over a longer period of time, because we change as artists and that means our comic changes. If it didn't it'd be tough to see artistic growth, which is always really fun to see.

I think the new page looks better and even easier to read!

Don't consider it a bad thing. Its only natural that anyone would want to best present their comic by fixing it to match with their lifestyle and their style needs.

This usually happens to me when I make a comic but it's something that tends to happen over time. The changes are so gradual, that you wouldn't notice it right away unless you were the compare the very first page with the very last page. I think this is fine! There's nothing wrong with evolving ones art within their comic. Although I would like to stay as consistent as possible with my current webcomic in case I decide to take it to print. :S

One of my favorite things to do is take the latest volume of my favorite manga and compare the artwork it to the artwork in the first volume. There's always a huge difference, because the artist changed and improved themselves along the way.
It's just something that happens the more you work on your comic. Your style just kind of develops on its own and you don't even know its happening. When I finished the first chapter of my webcomic, I looked back at the first page and character sheets that I drew and I was so stunned at how different my style was, or improved I should say.
Also, there's nothing wrong with experimenting with slight style changes as well. That's all part of the learning process. Just go with your gut and do what you think is best for your webcomic. ^^

One thing to remember is that your style is going to naturally evolve ANYWAY, so changing your art style isn't really a bad thing. Honestly, if your art looks the same from start to finish you haven't learned anything and might want to work on it.

I think its ok the story hasn't progressed a lot not like 100 pages in or anything.

I'm just about finished my first story arc of my comic and for the second story, I'm changing styles quite drastically. From a ink b+w story to a grey scale fully rendered comic in the second story. I'm worried about how people might react, but at the same time, since it's a natural split in the story, I think it should be fine. That said, at the end of the day, I have no publisher, I'm doing this for me, so if I want to experiment, I will. And if for you, changing styles allows you to work faster and still be happy of the results, more power to you!

I think drawing something over and over again like in comics your style will bound to change. I am always reminded of how much my has come by looking at the character's initial concept and how they look in the current page. This is also apparent when looking at older pages.

I'm very familiar with this. I was really concerned about changing the style for my series Life of a Homeschooler because I wanted it to be consistent (and I couldn't draw for crap back then) Eventually it got to the point where I could draw and I felt making a change would be a good idea to try to go an hiatus for a while to experiment and then change it from
this to this
It's not really that big of a deal to make style changes (just look at Owl Turd or, as featured atm, A King or Whatever, both of them looked WAY different at first)

Not bad at all! If you've been working hard, your style is bound to change and improve! Keep going and experiment, you'll find something you like to stick with!

Yh drawing style changes as time goes on since later on you will get accustomed and more efficient in your drawing style sorta like mine THE LAST SAMURAI
