I'm working on a new comic and was wondering if anyone can give me any ideas for character names?

Also i'm looking for an artist if you are interested or know someone.

Ah okay, I would go with some grounded real names for your characters then as opposed to high fantasy names. What kind of characters do you have?

Well I was thinking about a fantasy and romance comic. This girl who was adopted into a family and doesn't know. Her bio parents had powers and stuff, and when this girl turns 16 she starts to gain powers like her parents. Her guy best friend is the only person she tells this to and they try to find out about her bio parents and try to find them. And like on the way they start to fall in love with each other

What period of time does this take place? If it is modern day, you could look up what the most popular girl names for zoomers are, it might help give you something more grounded. Tho sometimes I like to give my characters less common names. Like if you give her an old fashion name, you can have jokes about how her name sounds like a grandma.

A good resource I like to use is Baby Names2
It lets you search by meaning and nationality if needed.

I also like Forebears
This can also help with nationalities.

Maybe it's just me (and it probably IS just me) but I kinda feel weird about using names with meanings that relate to the story line unless whomever named the person had foreknowledge of what they would grow to be like. For example: If a character as a baby was given a name that meant dragon-slayer & then in the story the child grew up to slay dragons, it'd feel like the author had peeped from behind a curtain & said, "Hey! See what I did there?"

Uhm when I talked about name meanings and searching tools I didn't suggest that?
I just think that if I'm gonna use a name, at least I'll look up to its history and such, especially if it's a name from a different culture than mine.

I don't think so. I don't see that you had said anything like what I said about names. What did I miss????

Your first post was a reply to mine, so I thought it was some sort of answering to what I was saying. :joy: So I was "what did I miss??" too.
So, a bit of a misunderstanding.

I mean it depends on preference and name , majority of names of my characters have something to do with their role in the story, but names are pretty "boring" (just everyday names from around the world) but i do see your point
