God, I have been looking for something like this!
Alright, critique time! (Disclaimer: I write this critique with the intention of helping someone improve, I do not write this in a malicious way and I hope that it doesnât come across like that! Love your comic!)(Also, if anyone wants to critique mine, go right ahead, rip me apart! I desperately need it!)
Webcomic Title: The Larks
Compliments: Your story is very interesting and cute. I really do love how your story has a nice pace and I love your characters. I read from the first chapter to the last few pages. You have made an improvement with your art and how you tell your story! Iâm honestly debating drawing your characters, they are very interesting!
Criticism: The background of your newest pages is grainy. I see what you were going for, but it does make the characters blend into the background. You can make the background a bit transparent and it would be fixed (75-80% transparency).
Now, your characters. The designs are good and their backstories and interesting, I like them, however, I feel like your story is in more of a âDating simâ format. Let me explain, your characters donât really have motion behind them, there arenât a lot of scenes of them just moving around (Thatâs not a bad thing!) You would benefit from making a batch of backgrounds and stagnant designs of your characters and not using models, but I believe you use them because they are very easy to pose and move around (again, thatâs fine, not everyone can make their own stuff! I struggle with backgrounds a ton!) It feels like your using them as a base to start.
I would suggest you dipping your toes into drawing your own characters, even if itâs just for fun, to give you that confidence to draw your own comics. This would give you a lot more freedom to decide what the characters do and how they look. And it doesnât have to be good at first because you would be improving every time you drew them, and you can see your improvements! Overall, I see your art improving in the future and I subscribed to your story as well! Iâm excited to see where you take your story!
