I'm trying to figure out a cover for my novel. Since I'm commissioning someone, I figured I'd go all out and have one that could be put on a printed book. Here's the cover without text, mind you it's in the super sketchy stage because I don't want to invest a lot into it until I'm sure. I hope it reads well enough to process

What vibe do you get from looking at the image with no text? What feeling does it evoke? Does a specific genre come to mind? What do you think the story is about.

Next, here's the title (albeit scribbled terribly)

It's going to be called 'My Reluctant Oasis'

Does seeing the title change your thoughts or cement them? What do you think the story is about just looking at the title and art?

The story seems to be a chill, modern work about two contrasting characters. It's unclear without a full outfits, but one seems to be happier than the other.

I'm glad that came through in such a sketchy rendition! Thank you for your thoughts

Something of the Drama genre? Perhaps the person watering their plants is happy-go-lucky and super nice, while the person on the chair is hurt and more secretive.

I kinda get the feeling that your novel is a bit bittersweet maybe? An unrequited romance?
The genre would probably be drama or romance? The setting looks like a house, maybe a mansion, thats inhabited by someone who has a lots of money that they don't care for. The relationship between the two characters is very domestic, but bittersweet because of the unrequited romance. Idk I feel like I'm just making things up at this point
It's kinda hard to tell in this stage because the colours contribute a lot to how the reader perceives it.

The name kinda gives the feeling of loneliness. "Reluctant" because this person is holding back, and "Oasis" because they feel like they've found something precious--like an oasis in the desert.

I hope I've guessed at least one thing right

omg that's so spot on its scary :astonished: That's the vibe I'm going for, I commissioned an artist who does water colors for this one cause I feel like it'll hammer those ideas home. again, holy wow your thoughts have me reeling :joy:
