My experience as creator is very limited, as I started uploading to Tapastic less than a month ago. I have been around as a reader for quite some time however, but only now I REALLY started noticing the share button next to each uploaded episode.

Now, call me old fashioned, but I don't share very much. So my "sharing-experience" is very limited.

I was very confused to see the number next to the share button go up rise quickly on my newly uploaded episodes - often it would be higher than the amount of likes or comments I would receive. And that even though Devil's Acres1 is a long running story and is not as easy to digest and therefore share as a short gag comic.

As a reader, do you share other people's comics online?
And as a creator, what has been your experience with the ominous "Share-Button"?

I haven't noticed that they count how many who share your comic at all.
I thought it was something else so I didn't bother to look at it.

As a reader, I sometimes share comics that I think need more love. I don't know if that ever helps anyone, since I have so few followers on Twitter, but I know that I'd appreciate someone sharing my work, so I try to do the same for others.

I've shared comics twice on FB from other creators but it doesn't seem like it goes on people's feeds since they've never got any responses

Every once and a while I'll hit the share button. Most of the time though I just copy paste the link to send to people because I'd rather just message a few people I know would be interested instead of everyone following me.

I have AdBlock installed on my browser so I don't even see the share button. Adblock erases FB buttons from any internet page because they act as relays to enable FB to track your cookies and activity.

I have to confess, I don't share much. Partly, this is because my Tapastic activity is mostly here on the boards - and partly because I'm too busy to read much. And partly because when I DO spread the word about a comic, I tend to do it by copy-pasting a link or something, the good oldfashioned way.

You kids and your new-fangled automated share buttons. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Yes, I share a lot! Because I know how much that helps an artist. First, it helps because whether I have a big social media following or not (I'd say it's a decent size fyi) by just like/comment/share I'm helping that comic reach the trending/popular section on the home page. And two, by sharing (whether your following is big or not again) there's no real telling who will see your post. Your share might make it in front of one random person that becomes the next super fan of the series. So yes, for series I love and series that deserve more love, I share like crazy.

I'm pretty much the Antichrist of social media so I don't do sharing, or hell I don't even like pages. I don't know what the "Like" function even means. If I'm subscribed to a comic, doesn't that just mean I like the whole damn thing? I digress.

I really wish I could track where people were sharing my comics. I usually get 6-7 shares a page, but one time Hacheeachkee got 60 shares and I was like OoO Whhaaaatttt? (Thank all 60 of those lovely users though)

But I do have a Twitter and FB hub, so I do share some comics that I really like, usually through twitter. Unfortunately with FB it can only sync up to my private account instead of my page account (the MylCreates page which is an extend of my private account), so I do the whole, copy and paste method, so idk if the counter it can track that.

I usually have AdBlock, but Tapastic is saved under my settings as an OK site to help with their Ad revenue and whatnot and so I can see the share-option.

It's a way to show appreciation on an episode to episode basis.

We'll also be aggregating comics that you have liked, so your favorite episodes are easier to track.

It counts if you share your post link to a bunch of groups or something on FB, even if you didn't enact the share directly from Tapastic. For example I'll regularly share a comic with roughly 6 groups, so I know that accounts for 6 of that total number.

I don't always hit it, mostly I just like and comment most of the time. but sometimes I'll do it if I see a comic I either really enjoy, or if I just feel like sharing it.
Its really very random for me....

To be honest, I don't mess with it at all. Because I don't have an account to any social network (that would mean breaking the oath I swore in my childhood if I were to get such a thing...) so it is meaningless to me.
If I want to "share" a comic I found with one of my friends, I just copy its link and send it to them.

i use this as a gauge on what people like to see. if a page gets MORE likes than the others then something on that pages 'worked for them'

as for sharing I share, I share my friends comics, mainly on twiiter and tumblr, FB for me is meh. mainly 'cause I don't use it.

2 months later

I don't ...=w=' I only share mine through facebook...If I share someone else's work my older relatives will think the comic belongs to me, I do however tell my friends about the webcomics I read.
