Eagle's Webcomic Review signup thread

Starting today, I will be taking signups for webcomics that want a review. These will be posted on the NO-Earth site, but each one will be linked back here to this thread as well.

A few caveats.

I am a very blunt person. While I will try to spare feelings, some of my critiques have been deemed harsh. I do not use abusive language, profanity, or personal attacks, but I am going to review your work.

This is for long form stories only. I will not be reviewing gag-a-day, or disjointed slice of life. If you have a long form story that is a slice of life or gag-a-day (Such as Bruno Harm here on the Tap) that is fine.

I will do a fair review, even if the subject matter is not to my taste. My only restriction on story matter is no nudity/sex. I am on a company laptop, and they don't mind language or violence, but draw the line on sex/nudity.

I will do a minimum of 20 pages of reading. I will allow you to pick the 20 pages, but they must be continuous. If I like it, I am likely to read more.

I will point out good things and bad things. These are not 'negative' reviews, but they will be concentrating on story. Not the writing. Not the art. The story. The intersection of the two that defines comics as a medium. Writing will be critiqued as it applies to the story telling. Art will be critiqued as it applies to the storytelling.

Once I am done with a review, it will be e-mailed to you, and you given a chance to respond before I post it. The response will be posted with the review. In the rare case that I change my review based on the response, I will send you the new draft before posting. I feel it only fair that you get a chance to post the first response to the critique before it is released into the wild.

Depending on the response to this, I will think about branching it into other forums.

I'm hesitant to sign up at this time; my comic happens to be right in the middle of something right now, and that might not be the best time to ask for a critique. Doesn't mean the critique wouldn't help, but since I can probably only get one, might as well ask for it at a better time?

Thank you for this. I've heard the "art catches my attention; story keeps me for the long run" thing way too many times. We're talking about comics, not novels with accompanying illustrations.

I've actually been interested to see how my comic would hold up in an actual review (not feedback from a family member... Ha ha!). If you're still taking signups, I'd like to throw mine in. You can start at the page I've linked it to Burning Bright: Chapter 1/Page1 and go 20 pages from there.

In the beginning when I started posting I added in a couple "extra" pages for holidays and such. If you want to skip those and just review 20 pages (without any breaks to the story line), you could start here instead: Chapter 2/Page 1.

It's always a little scary because, like @keii4ii said, my comic's also in the middle of something and I'll probably want to explain and respond to potential confusion "Just wait a week or two and it'll be more clear." I think at this point my curiosity outweighs my doubts, though!

20 pages. If you run longer than standard sized pages, then feel free to break it down into whatever format is comfortable. If one of your episodes equals about 4-5 pages, then we will go from there.

Oooooooh! I would love to sign up. But I also would like to finish my first chapter first – While I have 22 pages right now, I feel better not to have you end in the middle of an action scene.

I will write again once the chapter is finished, if you are still reviewing at that point. It will probably be in a month.

Here's my comic Prozaic soon to be uploaded to Tapastic as well. You can begin reading at the beginning, although the art back there's rather old. It's a slice of life comedy, no profane language, no nudity or anything that could bother

Hell yeah, we're in! Kamikaze hasn't quite finished it's first episode yet, but we've got around 70+ pages and we're a long form narrative broken into 5 acts (1-4 and a teaser).

I often see that one overshadows the other in many reviews. It'll be interesting to see it looked at critically from both sides.

Um...@Winglesscomic, You do realise that I just sent you a review of the first 22 pages of your comic in a PM on Comic Fury yesterday, yah? Like before I started this thread. However, I would be more than willing to go back and do a review of the comic with the new writer if you will tell me what page that they started on.

That's OK. I'm generally on all comic related forums, so I sometimes have problems remembering what forum it was that I did what on. And my memory is pretty good.
